Content Area Words:
- square units – To find the area of a square or rectangle, length and width are multiplied together to give the area, which is measured in square units.
- variable – A symbol, usually a letter, used to represent a number in a math expression. Ex. 12 = a + 3
- formula – A fact or a rule written with mathematical symbols.
- area – The space occupied by a flat shape or the surface of an object. The area of a figure is the number of unit squares that cover the surface of a closed figure. Ex. A = L x W or P = 2L + 2W
- perimeter – The distance around a shape.
