Open House is coming up!

Open House is from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Thursday, September 12, 2019.

Please bring your 4th grader so they can show you all about 4th grade. They are preparing many things to share with you!

This is also a time students will get to sign up for a weekend with Mitty. Come with ideas about which weekend you want, but have a backup in mind just in case. Ask your 4th grader all about Mitty!

If you haven’t signed up for the Remind app yet, please do so you can stay up to date on what is happening and what is coming up. It is also a quick and easy way to get in touch with me.

Have a great weekend!

Spelling words this week & math homework

Math homework will come home Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Math homework is due the next day. Students will bring the homework helper home to guide them through the problems. I will assign some of the problems each night, but usually not all of them.

Spelling lists will be available here on the blog at or before the start of each week. I know some students like to get a head start, so I will try to get it up here as soon as I can. Spelling test is on Friday. Students are tested on the 10 words that follow the weekly pattern, plus 5 content words and their definitions.

Here is some information from the first week of school:

Classroom Policies

Homework

Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday. It is graded and counts toward your child’s report card. It must be completed and turned in on time. It is recommended that your child reads for a minimum of twenty minutes every night.

Classwork

Any classwork that is not finished will be sent home to complete for the next day. Classwork is graded and assessed.

Tests

All students will take district created pre and post-tests for each unit of study. Only post-tests count toward grades. Spelling words will be posted to the blog and sent home on Mondays Spelling tests are given every Fridays. Students are tested on spelling of the weekly pattern/rule as well as spelling and knowing definitions for content words connected to 4th grade curriculum and standards.

Late or Absent Work

If absent, a student has the same amount of time to complete their work as the amount of days absent. For example, if a student misses two days, they have two days to make up the work.

Field Trips

Per a new district policy no more than six chaperones can attend a field trip. Chaperones are decided on a first come, first serve basis. Please fill out your new ICHAT in the office if you would like to be a chaperone this year.

Appointments

I am available to meet after school most days. Feel free to contact me to  meet via email, the remind app, or by phone.

Snacks

We will have a daily morning snack. Please be sure your student has a health snack they can eat quickly and neatly. Fruit, veggies, cheese stick, granola bars are all great options!
