Here are the spelling words if students want to get a head start on studying, words are also copied into their planners. This is a good opportunity to check that the words have been copied correctly.
I’m also including the directions for the weekly letter students write in class every Friday for you. Their spelling test should be stapled to the letter. It is a work in progress, but at this point in the year student should be following the directions carefully, including all the parts in their letter. We are working on writing detailed sentences that paint a clear picture of their week for you! Also, in 5th grade students are expected to write paragraphs with 5 sentences each.
Students’ homework each weekend is to share their letter with you and ask you for your signature. In addition, students should be reading for 20 minutes or more everyday.
