Class will re-exam Chapter 17, Beginnings of the American Civil War.
Wk. of 4/28-5/3/’19
Students will study the American Reform Movement, ch. 14 focusing
on the reforms in religion, women’s rights, temperance, education,
mental illness, and prison reform.
Wk of 4/15-4/19, 2019
Students will finish their study of the Civil War in preparation for
the M-STEP which will be taken on Tuesday and Wednesday. PBIS rewards
day will be this Thursday. No school on Friday.
Wk. of 4/8-4/12/’19
Students will continue the discussion of slavery and the American Civil War.
Wk. of 3/18-3/22/’19
Students will continue and complete ch. 13 with discussions
focusing on the Morman migration and the California gold rush.
Week of 3/11-3/15/’19
Students will finish the movie, “The Alamo” and will discuss
the annexation of Texas and Oregon, and the Mexican / American War,
sections 4 & 5 of Chapter 13.
Week of Feb. 25-Mar. 1, 2019
Class will begin the study of Westward Expansion with
discussion focusing on the mountain-men and missionaries
who explored the west coast. Ch. 13 section 1 & 2.
Extra credit essay on decade “Entertainment” is due
Thursday, Feb, 28th.
Week of 2/19-2/22
Due to mid-winter break and PBIS reward day, students will
spend the week completing ch. 12 and presenting their
“Decade Disaster” essays.
Week of Feb. 11, 2019
Students will finish Chap. 12 with the study of Jackson’s policy
towards Native Americans and the Panic of 1837. Decade essay on
a disaster is due Thurs. 2/14/’19.
Week of Feb. 4-8/2019
Because of last week’s altered schedule, we will finish watching Jeremiah Johnson
about Mountain men (American fur trappers). We will also continue chapter 12 with a
discussion of the election of 1828 and Jacksonian Democracy.
