Week of 3/6/’17

Students will begin the study of Westward Expansion with the viewing
of The Alamo. Classes will discuss Texas Independence, annexation,and
expansion in to Oregon.

Quiz Thursday will cover material from last week as well as elements
from the material above. Decade ‘Cube’ project is due Friday.

Week of 2/27

Students will be given back their essays on ‘Disasters’that occurred during their decade. I’ll go over some of the more common
errors and then discuss specifics as necessary. Extra credit essays will be collected, and instructions for next project, ‘Minority’ cube, will be given.

Classes will be presented with information on Jackson’s Indian policies, the land species act and the resulting Panic of 1837.

Week of 1/30

On Monday, the students will be given a syllabus and assigned decade years for the ‘Decade Projects’. Tuesday through Thursday we will discuss the Monroe Doctrine and its effect on government policies. Friday’s quiz will cover the Era of Good Feelings, Latin American revolutions, and the Monroe Doctrine.

History wk. of 1/16/17

Class will continue to study the Industrial Revolution and look at the changes in transportation. Chapter 11, section 2. Due to the shortened school week, Friday’s quiz will include last week’s material. Students will probably spend two days working in small groups to report on different modes of transportation.

U.S. History wk. of 12/12/16

Classes will continue chapter 10 focusing on the events leading up to the War of 1812. Students will discuss Tecumseh’s Indian Confederation, the Warhawks, and America’s declaration of war . Terms on pp. 319 and 325 will be assigned along with corresponding readings. Quiz will be given on Tuesday, Dec.20 for this section.

Vocabulary quiz on Friday, Dec.16 will cover words “cultural-distribution”.
