We will be studying the War of 1812. Students will focus on the navel battles around the Great Lakes, the attempted
invasion of Canada, the attack on Washington D.C., and the final battles. Section 5 of chapter 10 will be read.

Wk. of 1/8/’18
As the new year begins, we will be studying the 2nd. term of Jefferson
with focus on the Burr/Hamilton duel, increased British inpressment,
and the 1807 Embargo Act. We will be finishing chapter 9.
Here’s hoping for a great 2018.
Wk. of 12/4/’17
Class will begin Ch. 9 with a discussion of Washington’s cabinet and
the beginning of the French Revolution. Sections 1 & 2 will be
covered this week.
Wk. of Nov. 27, 2017
Students will create a Bill of Rights booklet this week and present on Thursday.
Each amendment will be graded on definition, picture, and neatness. Booklet
will be worth 30 summative points.

Wk. of Nov. 6, ’17
We will continue the study of the Constitution with a
review of Articles 1-3, pp. 248-257. Students will
also learn the process to amend the Constitution and
civic responsibilities. Quiz on Friday will cover the
Preamble and the three branches of the Federal gov’t.
Wk. of 10/30/’17
Students will be given back and go over the Ratification Quiz.
We will begin Chap. 8 “The Constitution” with lecture/discussion
on the Preamble and Articles 1,2, and 3. No quiz this week!
Wk. of 10-23-’17
We will continue the study of the Constitutional Convention by discussing ratification,
the promise of the Bill of Rights, and the emergence of political factions. pp. 214-221.
Wk. of 10/16/’17
Students will continue the study of the Constitutional Convention of 1787
that was begun last week. We will focus on the compromises and the
differences between the Federalists and Anti-federalists views. pp. 211-218.
Wk. of 10/9/2017
Classes will begin the study of why the government created a new constitution
after The Articles of Confederation. Chapter 7.
We will begin by exploring the reasons for a constitution and how the Articles
proved to be insufficient to run the new country.
U.S. History wk. of 10-2-’17
Students will begin the study of the American Revolution, chapter 6 of American Nation.
This week we will focus on the advantages of both sides and several of the major characters
and battles. Friday’s quiz will cover pp. 181-190 and vocabulary.
