First of all, I would like to say how proud I am of our students! They are doing a great job at our sight words and our word families. During our district Kindergarten meeting, spelling guidelines were discussed and clarified. Therefor, beginning this Thursday, Feb. 14 the following changes will occur concerning our sight word and word families:
- students will need to only read the selected sight words (continuing to practice writing the sight words is still a great idea)
- students will be asked to spell 6 words from the given word pattern : 3 warm (words practiced in class) 3 cold (words to be built from prior knowledge beginning sounds and word pattern)
-et word pattern (met, set, pet)
This week we will:
Reading: read “Wooway for Wadney Wat”, we will use strategies such as predicting to gauge our comprehension of the story
Writing/Science: continue to discuss how the weather affects us during the winter
Math: finish up our Module 3
Social Studies: discuss places that we go

Math: -match quantities and compare by using less/few or more/greater

Social Studies: -what makes each of us unique
Spelling for the week of January 29, 2019
Students will be assessed on Fridays or the end of the week. Students will be asked to build the words with magnet letters or write them on whiteboards. After a couple of weeks we will begin writing our words in a traditional spelling test. Students will be tested on all of the sight words 1-4 and 3 of the others. Please feel free to email me or call me with any questions.
