Gross motor skills are the skills used to move your arms, legs, and trunk in a functional way. Gross motor skills involve the large muscles of the body that allow a child to walk, jump, kick, sit upright, lift, and throw a ball. Learning and practicing motor skills is an important part of child development that allows children to participate in activities and meet age-appropriate developmental milestones.
