The field of education – specifically teaching- is something one might consider because it enables people to employ important skills such as problem solving. Problem solving is an important skill that one must possess if they choose to enter into the field of teaching. According to the website “My Next Move,” people in the field of education must be able to problem solve because they “teach writing classes, evaluate and grade students’ class work, assignments, and papers”(My Next Move). This quote demonstrates/illustrates/highlights how a person choosing to enter the field of education must be able to problem solve. In other words, the rigor of preparing lesson plans and developing assignments requires the skill of problem solving in order for one to be successful within the field. |

Over the past two weeks, we have read about the personal stories of Sandra Cisneros in “Only Daughter” and Ken Liu from “The Paper Menagerie.” Both stories offer readers a unique perspective about a moment in their life by focusing on the themes of culture, identity, acceptance, struggle, and love. In your Writer’s Notebook, I would like you to now write about YOUR story, specifically a moment in time. You MUST choose ONE of the questions below and write ONE FULL PAGE about it. Use ONE of the questions below as a prompt. DO NOT ANSWER EACH QUESTION INDIVIDUALLY!
- What lesson in life did you learn the hard way? This can be a lesson about yourself, family, doing the right thing, decisions you have made, friends, relationships etc.
OR
- Describe a time when your life took an unpredictable turn.
OR
- What slice of your life would you like your children to know that shed light on what has meant the most to you?
