If an assignment in Schoology asks for a photo, please make sure to upload it to Schoology. There is a How-To video in the Parent folder with step by step directions on how to do this.

Sending photos to my email will almost guarantee it will get lost in my Inbox, never to be found again.

Tomorrow afternoon students have 2 specials – Art and Music.

Their Art special will be not be live but you can find it on Schoology. The art teacher’s email address is: durants@dearbornschools.org

The Music special will be live. You will have to do the following to get your student into Ms. Green’s Live class at 2pm:

1. Log into Schoology and go to <courses>.
2. Find Ms. Green’s Music Course.
3. Click on her Zoom Meeting.

Share the code with any students you want to add to the class and have them:

1. Go to BrainPOP Jr..
2. Click Enter Code at the top.
3. Enter your class code.
4. Log in with their student accounts or create new ones. (Note: students can use the same account to join multiple classes.) You will more than likely need to create a new one.
5. Explore!

We are going to be using Raz-Kids for a reading resources in 2nd grade. This is a resource we will be using throughout the year. At any time students can log in and read on Raz-Kids. At first, it will give them a designated level based on how they do with the placement quiz. These levels will not be permanent as there are many factors that can affect this. Once I test all students on their reading levels, I will adjust their levels on Raz-Kids. Once they have a level, they should be able to read almost all of the words on their own. In order for them to grow as readers, they need to be reading books at their level. If the books are too hard or too easy to read, it will hinder reading growth. 

Feel free to communicate with me if you are noticing that the books are too easy or too hard for your child at first, while I don’t have their level data yet. I can adjust any reading level. 

You may also request parent access by clicking the green parent button in the top right corner on the Raz-Kids page.

I’m hoping that this afternoon/weekend you are able to help log your student in and bookmark it so it is easily available for them to work in on a daily basis.

This week, when I am not meeting with small groups, I am keeping my afternoon hours open for any questions/ comments/ concerns/ or help that you or your student may need. Please use the Google Doc attached to sign up for a time to meet with me one-on-one. I am keeping these to 15 minutes to ensure that I am available for as many families as need be.

Here are step by step directions to load a Google Drive Assignment in Schoology for the first time. After you have gone through these steps, you should not have to do this again.

1. Log into Schoology through the Dearbornschools.org portal.
2. Click on <Courses>.
3. Click on “Welcome to 2nd Grade.”
4. On the right hand side you will see a box that says “Upcoming.” Underneath it there are 2 assignments listed: Reading Assignment- Scattergories and SEL Assignment – Feelings. These are the assignments for today.
5. Click on <Reading Assignment – Scattergories>
6. Read the Description under <Assignment>
7. Click on My Document.
8. If the assignment does not show, click the blue link that says “Can’t see your document? Click here.” 
9. Click on the button that says Connect to connect your child’s Google Drive with Schoology. 

10. Click on your child’s Google account. 
11. Click Allow
12. The assignment should then show up.

You’re not alone. Here are the steps to log into Schoology.

Steps to Logging Into Schoology/Zoom

You MUST log in through the student portal page of the Dearborn Schools website.

Do NOT use the Schoology App. 

• It doesn’t have access to the district provided domains and resources. It’ll redirect you to the Global Zoom site and not the Dearborn Zoom site which is restricted to Dearborn School Users. So that will cause an error. 

So…  

Step 1: Go to www.dearbornschools.org

Step 2: Click <Home> tab in the heading banner, then <Student Portal>from the drop down menu.

Step 3: Click on Schoology. It will ask you to login with your Dearborn email address

• (Student number)@dearbornschools.org
• Student’s password-It’s their birthdate
• If you can’t log in —call the Help Desk at 313-827-3003 or Parent Tech support at 313-827-8400

Step 4: Once logged in you should see your Schoology Homepage: Click <Courses>

Step 5: Click on our class tile.

Step 6: Click on the Zoom meeting link at the top.
