Students are expected to continue to practice their multiplication facts through Spring Break as well as the rest of the school year and summer. It is really important they master them. Third graders are expected to know their facts by the time they get to fourth grade. Please continue practicing them with your child.

Parent Talk Classes
Just a reminder Parent Talk classes start todayJanuary 9th at 1:30.
Margaret King Ahmed – Parent Involvement Educator will be hosting effective Parent talk classes here at River Oaks School.
What is Parent Talk? You will learn communication skills that empower, encourage self-responsible behaviors, self-motivation and character development. Learn practical skills to positively effect the social and emotional development of your children and family. You will increase achievement and decrease discipline issues with effective Parent Talk.
Classes will be held on Tuesday’s at 1:30 – 3:30.

December Break Learning
Students will not receive a winter packet for the upcoming break. Students have been assigned assignments through MYON and MobyMax in order to keep their minds growing during this time. They are also encouraged to fill out their reading logs that I will be passing out with some comprehension questions for them to answer.

Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal
School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”
If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools. Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years. Continue reading

M-Step Testing (Spring 2016)
M-Step testing for the fourth grade begins the week of May 9th and continues through the week of May 16th. Students are asked to get some good rest the night before their exam and to eat a good breakfast the morning of the test. The Dearborn public school website has a practice website for the M-step. Here is the link below. Students can practice how to use and navigate the tools as well as practice the math portion and the ELA portion for M-Step.

NWEA testing (Spring 2016)
The week of April 25th, we will not be having a spelling test due to NWEA testing. Students will be doing the reading and language portion this week.
For the week of May 2nd, students will be doing the Math NWEA this week and any other tests they may have missed from the previous week.
Students should be completed with all their NWEA testing after these two weeks.
