Sum it up!

This week we focused on annotation of text and finding the main idea using close reading skills and process of elimination. Students also focused on “Verb be” – grammatical sentence structure.

Students completed a “context clues” triple entry journal about key vocabulary term from our Article.

We started working on identifying textual evidence to support their claim/ answer through modeling and application.

This Week…

This week we focused on learning many language components such as vowel long and short sounds, context clues and new vocabulary. Students worked through AOW (article of the week) as we modeled close reading skills together.

Students received their SSR books and signed up for book talks.

Students created reading goals and are recording their daily read in their reading logs.

We focused on interrogative question structure in the English language through distinct  practices in class  and graphic organizers.
