Today’s Assignment (with sub)

Hello,

I apologize about not being there today, but Monday we will continue working on our projects. Please read the following to complete the assignment for today with the sub. Due at the end of the hour.

• Assignment: Students are to write a letter addressed to an incoming 9^th grader discussing the following:

 

Dear 9^th Grade Student, (no name)

What should they expect to learn in honors ELA? What should they look forward to?

What criticism do you have of the course? Be candid, but professional. For instance, if a 9^thgrader asked you what you thought of 10^thgrade honors ELA with Mrs. Alaouie, how would you respond? What are the pros AND the cons? Is there something you wish we could have done and didn’t as a class? What were the highlights of the year; things that you will never forget and things you wish didn’t happen, because it was not useful. Whatever your responses are please make sure they are supported with REAL reasons and explanations, not “just because” or because you hated it.

You can write, “a certain activity or routine was not beneficial because of one two three, or “an activity or routine was beneficial because of one two three.” How prepared do you feel for AP Lang or 11^thgrade? Please make the letter meaningful and sincere. Not only will you be helping a 9^thgrader, but you will also be helping me as a teacher grow. I like to know from my students what is working and what is not. What you enjoyed and what was dreadful? What meaningful memories did you make in my class? Maybe you something you read or discovered in my class that you will carry with you always, or maybe something I said or a classmate’s said that you will never forget.
