Camp Information

We leave one week from Monday (on Oct. 21). Students should be here by 7:50. They SHOULD have their lunch and items for on the bus in a small back pack. All medicine should be in a ziploc bag with exact directions for taking and your child’s name on it. Give it to Mrs. Ranka when you arrive Monday. Pillows should be in their bags, not for on the bus. Put sleeping bag/pillow in some sort of bag labeled with your child’s name. Remember, if you use a garbage bag, they usually all look alike, so attach something to make your child’s stand out. Watch the weather forecast and pack accordingly. We will load bus by 8 and leave by 8:15.

We will return between 3:45-4:45 on Wednesday. You will receive a phone call when we are 1/2 hour away. Please be on time to get your child and DO NOT park where the bus will unload.

We are excited and will have a great time, don’t worry! 🙂

Reminders

Thursday (tomorrow) is our DTE assembly. Students who didn’t decline will be bringing home the energy kit!

Friday is a half day dismissal. We will still be having our Spelling test. Make sure to spend time studying. We are focusing on the long i spelling patterns—i with e at the end, igh, ei, ie , y. Students should also spend extra time on the content words and word of the week. These words are a little more challenging. They also need to know the definition of the word of the week. We spend time on word work activities with these words as well.

Halloween Breakfast–I posted a link for the sign up genius for the Halloween Breakfast . You can hover over “Halloween Party” and the link will come up. Thank you in advance.

Camp News: Thanks to everyone for sending in the camp balance, we are all set to go now! Dads going are Mr. Makled, Mr. Frietag, Mr. Gawall, Mr. Heaton, Mr. Nowak and Mr. Wisniewski. We need about 4-5 volunteers who can take the call when we are about 1/2 hour away and begin the fan out calls. If you will be home and able to make about 8 phone calls to let parents know we are almost home please email Mrs. Ranka at rankac@dearbornschools.org and late next week you will get a list of numbers to call. Also, your child can bring $30 in spending money if they would like to purchase a hoodie or t-shirt while at camp. You can put it in an envelope with your child’s name on the outside and hand it to Mrs. Ranka as the students get on the bus on Monday, October 21. Make sure your child knows that they have spending money. Thanks in advance.

Kindness Rock Project

DuVall families,
Our students will be painting rocks with your help in preparation for our Peace Day Project. On Thursday, September 26, we are asking parent or guardian volunteers to contact me to help students with this project.  During this time, students will get a kindness rock from the PTA and write a message of kindness on the rock with the support of the parent/ guardians volunteers.  On October 3, our students will take their kindness rocks to the butterfly garden and place them so that their message of kindness can be viewed by anyone walking by!  Thank you for your help and support.
