CAMP
Unfortunately we did not get any more donations to put toward camp and we can’t wait any longer. Therefore, balance owed per student is $83.00 (Total amount was $183 less your already paid $100 deposit). Pls. send a check (or cash) made out to DuVall School by October 8. Pls. put your child’s name and teacher on the envelope if you send it in with your child. If you plan on paying at the meeting ON October 8 (@5:45 in room 202), that is fine too. We will pass out the packing list and have you sign the medical waiver at the meeting. PLEASE bring a copy of your insurance card for us to attach to the waiver. We will also answer any last minute questions during that time. If you can’t come, we will send home the paperwork with your child the following day BUT your payment MUST be in by October 8! Thanks in advance!

Christmas Stockings
OPERATION CHRISTMAS STOCKING: For many years we have been collecting extra Halloween candy and sending it to the troops through an organization called Boatsie’s Boxes. This year we are changing it up a bit. What this means to you is that each classroom will be collecting goods that will be put into individual stockings (16”-19”) to be sent overseas to service troops that are serving our country. We will begin collecting NOW. All items will get shipped November 5th and students will be filling them Friday, November 2nd. If you would like to donate more, feel free and you can still send in extra Halloween candy. You can also make a cash donation in the office to help purchase the stockings if you’d like. Thanks in advance and we think this will make a great addition to the program we do in the spring for the veterans! Pls. see below your child’s grade level and items to be donated.
Kdg.=travel size tissues and travel size wet wipes
1st= lip balm and playing cards
2nd=dried fruit and life savers
3rd=chewing gum, toothbrushes/toothpaste

Three Cedars Farm Field Trip Chaperones
Thank you to those who have volunteered to chaperone and drive for our first field trip. There are still permission slips to be turned in, but currently we only have enough drivers to transport 13 kids. I know that schedules are often difficult, but we do need enough drivers to chaperone 26 kids. If you are able to drive, please let me know. Permission slips and money need to be turned in by Friday, September 28th.
Thank you for your support!

Week of September 10-14
Reminders for the Week:
Bring in those Box Tops!
Thursday–Open House 6:00-7:30
Friday–Half day–students dismiss at 11:45
Please remember to check your child’s planner daily, after checking over the homework with him/her.
Spelling–Our focus this week is long a. We also have content words and our word of the week. These words take a little extra focus and students also need to know the definition of the word of the week. This will increase their vocabulary, which will assist with reading and writing.
Math–The students are getting used to the new math program and they are already showing improvements. We are working on recognizing that a digit represents 10 times the value of what it represents in the place to its right. Students are utilizing the place value chart to model this.
Daily 5/CAFE–We will begin the folktale genre with our books as soon as NWEA is complete!
Writer’s Workshop–Students will be finishing up with their two paragraph descriptive essay.
Enjoy your week! Hopefully the sun returns!
