Happy New School Year to all DuVall Families! This is not only a new school year for me, it is a new school. I am very pleased to be at DuVall. From what I have seen and experienced the first week of school, the principal, staff and students are amazing.
Meet the New Teacher: A little bit of information about me…
EDUCATION: I attended Detroit Public Schools for Kindergarten and First Grade, then I went to St. Anselm Elementary School in Dearborn Heights. For high school I went to Dearborn Divine Child. I went to Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti. I graduated with a major in Special Education for the Cognitively Impaired, and a minor in Early Childhood . I also received my master’s from EMU in Learning Disabilities.
TEACHING CAREER: I taught preschool in the Great Start Readiness Program at Salina for 14 years, then 7 years in Kindergarten at Henry Ford Elementary. Last year I was a Special Education Resource Teacher at Henry Ford Elementary and Oakman. This year I am a Special Education Resource Teacher. I will be seeing students in all the grades. I am also privileged to be co-teaching in Ms. Courtright’s fifth grade.
FAMILY LIFE: I have been married to my husband Matt for almost 7 years. We have no children, but one sweet little dog named Radley. I grew up in Detroit and Dearborn, and currently still live in Dearborn. Interesting fact: my husband lives in Northern Michigan, so we have a long distance relationship. It works for us!
LIKES: Detroit Tigers, Star Wars, camping, retro TV shows, country music, Snoopy, dogs
I am looking forward to meeting the DuVall families.
