A little about me

I’m excited to be teaching at Henry Ford and Snow Elementary Schools this year!  I am the Media Specialist at these schools, and this is an awesome job because I am able to combine literature, reading, and technology.   As the Media Specialist, I oversee the media center, collaborate with staff, order materials, teach lessons, help with technology, and encourage students to enjoy reading.

I started teaching in Dearborn in 1999 at Salina Elementary, and soon added Salina Intermediate to my schedule.  I have Bachelor of Music, Master of Arts in Teaching, and Master of Library and Information Science degrees, all from Wayne State University.

We have one daughter, who graduated from Michigan State University.  Go Green!  She is also a teacher.

Here are a few fun facts to help you get to know me a little better!

Favorite sport to watch:  Tigers baseball

Favorite foods:  Greek salads, pizza, chicken shawarma

Favorite coffee:  Tim Horton’s or Dunkin.  Regular coffee please, none of those fancy schmancy ones.

Favorite subject in school:  science

Favorite place to vacation:  northern Michigan near Lake Charlevoix, but we also go to Lexington, Michigan  frequently.

A few other fun facts:  I love reading (of course!), ice skating, and playing the flute.  I started playing in 7th grade, continued through college, and continue to enjoy playing in community bands and flute ensembles.  I also had the great fortune to travel to Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, and Russia with my high school choir.

Staying active is so important and I enjoy going for walks and doing 5k fun walks.  I also did the American Lung Association Fight for Air Climb a few years ago and climbed the 72 flights of stairs to the top of the Renaissance Center in Detroit.  Great exercise and what a view!

    • Hello Tasneem!! I certainly do remember you! I remember you coming to the window at River Oaks to get library books every week. You had a basket on your bike and would put the books in there to take them to and from your home. You have a sister also, if I remember correctly. So good to hear from you. I can’t believe you’re in the last year of middle school. I know you’re doing great at Bryant. Have a wonderful school year!
