October 31, 2018

On Wednesday, October 31st, students will be allowed to bring costumes to school.  Students will not be able to wear their costumes during the morning, but may put them on in the afternoon prior to our Halloween Parade at 2:30 PM.  Weather permitting, we will walk around the neighborhood of the school during the parade and then have time for class parties.  Parents are welcome to participate in the parade around the neighborhood, but must check into the office first in order to obtain a visitor’s pass. If it rains the parade will be around the inside of the school.

Notes about costumes:

PLEASE DO NOT WEAR COSTUMES TO SCHOOL. Instead, bring your labeled costume in a bag, with your student’s name on it.  Students will be able to change into their costumes in the afternoon. Students may NOT dress up as anything that contains inappropriate, bloody looking, or would be considered scary for younger students who may be frightened by these costumes due to images they may have seen in the media. Weapons or toys that resemble weapons are NOT permitted.

Reminders and Updates

PTA will be sponsoring a bake sale tomorrow (10/19/18) at 2. You may send money with your child if you would like him/her to buy anything.

Students will be able to purchase raffles for the staff pumpkin contest all of next week.

There is no school for kindergarten next Friday, October 26, 2018.

Thank you for supporting your child with homework. For math homework being sent home, refer to the homework helpers to reinforce the language used in the classroom during math lessons. For any literacy homework being sent home, please make sure your child is working on his/her handwriting. Have them use the lines to write the letters/words.

There will be a parade on the day of Halloween. Children are able to dress up, but face masks are not allowed. More information to come soon.

Reading Bags

I began to give students their reading bags. Please ensure that your child is reading his/her word cards as well as any books in the book bag every day. The book bag is to be brought back to school every morning. I talked to students about responsibility and about being very careful with their word cards and books. Please reinforce this at home. Thanks in advance for your support!
