Home Learning Plan/Calendar

Parents,

During this extended break I want to make sure that students have the resources they need to continue learning. My team has worked to put together important websites and activities to keep your child engaged during this time at home. Please refer to the calendar for daily activities. You can contact me via email for any questions or support I can offer during this at-home learning experience. My email is: abulhah@dearbornschools.org

Here is the Home Learning Calendar:

March is Reading Month!

Dear families,

“Reading is Magical” is our theme for March is Reading Month this year. A reading calendar was sent home with a list of activities you can do with your child at home. In addition to this, a reading log was placed in your child’s folder today. Please fill out the reading log daily with the date, title of the book, number of minutes, and signature. Remind your child not to lose his/her log. I will be totaling up their minutes weekly, and the top 4 readers with the most minutes will win a special prize at the end of the month. I am so excited to begin this month, as we have lots of exciting events happening to celebrate our love of reading!

Mid-Winter Break

Dear families,

I have provided a mid-winter packet with practice sheets for your child to complete during our break. This packet should not take too much time to complete. A suggestion would be to complete a sheet a day. In addition, please remind your child to read every day and practice the word cards in his/her reading bag. Also, please allow your child to use IXL and Raz Kids. Your child’s username and password for IXL and Raz Kids should still be in his/her folder. Your support is always appreciated. Have a wonderful break!

Sincerely,

Ms. Abulhassan

Field Trip

Dear Parents,

Our class is excited to announce we are taking a field trip! Kindergarten and Young 5’s will be heading to the Michigan Theater to see the play Click, Clack, Moo! on January 27, 2020. We are planning for the bus to pick us up at 9:00am and dropping us off at 1:30pm. The cost of the field trip is $8 which includes lunch at McDonalds. we have already pre  yum-ordered our lunches; the students/ chaperones will receive a fish filet, one side, and a healthy drink.

As of now we already have the allotted amount of chaperones needed to attend this field trip. We were not able to invite each family because of limited space. Chaperones were chosen based on the needs of each classroom. There will be another opportunity for you to be a chaperone late this school year.

Please return your child’s permission slip to school by:

January 22, 2020.

Thanks so much!

Winter NWEA

Winter NWEA for math and reading will start in the next few days. You can prepare your child by allowing them to use the websites (IXL, Raz Kids) provided on the card in their folders. Please remind your child that this is a very important assessment, as it will measure their growth in reading and math from the beginning of the year to now. Also, please ensure that they get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast in the morning. I am confident that your children will do well if they listen to the questions and respond carefully. Thanks again for all of your support!
