Grading Policy Reminder…

Elementary Grading:

Students receive feedback on weekly assignments via Class Dojo, Google Classroom, and virtual meetings in the form of narrative comments. The comments include the following grading criterion:

Meeting: regularly submitted work and attended check-ins (virtual/phone meetings)

Progressing: Submitted most assignments and attended some of the check-ins

Limited Participation: with one of the following explanations

-Rarely or did not submit work (may be required to attend summer school)
-Rarely attended check-in sessions (may be required to attend summer school)
-Family hardship during the time of instruction (summer support offered)

————

If a student participates and demonstrates learning, he/she will receive a grade. The student’s grade will be determined by participation and by evidence of learning.

If a student chooses not to participate, he/she will receive no credit. They may be required to attend summer school or participate in additional learning.

DSHINES!

Greetings, Salina Families!

DSHINES has created a wonderful calendar full of healthy, fun, and engaging Ramadan activities–there are even some tasty recipes to try for suhoor and iftaar! I have attached it, here — just click on the link to open the calendar. Once you’ve opened the calendar, click on the links (in blue). Take a picture of the activities you engage in (I love food pics!), share them with me in Class Dojo/Google Classroom and I’ll add extra participation points to your grades! Fun AND learning, why not?!

New Food Distribution Days!

Greetings, Salina families!
On Monday, March 30, Dearborn Public Schools is changing the format of its free student meal distributions.  Meals will generally be distributed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. However, the week of April 6 to 10, meals will be handed out on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Each food bag will still contain both breakfast, lunch and milk for a child under 18, but now the bag will have food for each day until the next distribution.
The grab-and-go meals will continue to be handed out between 10 a.m. and noon at the same seven schools.  Fordson, Dearborn and Edsel Ford high schools; McCollough/Unis; Salina Intermediate; Smith Middle School; and Woodworth Middle School.
The Dearborn Schools student does not have to attend that school to be eligible for a meal. A designated person can pick up meals for multiple children.  The student does not need to be present.
Thank you and have a safe day!

-Mrs. Abdullah
