Online Learning

Vikings,

Below are the official recommendations from myself regarding your online learning while school is closed. These recommendations are not made with the goal of teaching you new math, rather, they are designed to help you remember and practice what you have already learned. At the moment, these are recommendations, not requirements. At the time of writing this administration is unclear whether or not online learning work will be graded upon returning to school. Please remember, your effort will determine the quality of your experience. I am making recommendations, but don’t let me hold you back. The more time you spend practicing math, the better shape you will be in upon returning to school.

Khan Academy – Since we have a little more free time these days please make sure to complete 4 Khan Academy assignments each week. You must score 80% or higher on the assignment to pass. The week begins each Monday morning and ends Sunday night when you fall asleep.

I-Ready – Please complete 4 lessons from your pathway each week. You must score 70% or higher to pass. The week begins each Monday morning and ends Sunday night when you fall asleep.

My recommendation is to do one Khan Academy assignment and one I-Ready assignment every weekday, but, since there are only four of each, choose a rest day as well. This will create a schedule that is similar to, but slightly less demanding, than actual school. However, each family’s situation is different, so you are welcome to complete each assignment at a time that is best for you. I will be checking assignments for completion at the end of each week and tracking who does and does not complete them. This information will also be posted on our Google Classroom.

If you have any questions please email me at zimmern@dearbornschools.org. Stay healthy, safe, and practice math!
