Writing and Typing Skills Practice

In third grade, we hold high standards for a student’s ability to write complete paragraphs. Writing is a skill that is essential because it is carried on throughout our life and is in almost every aspect of things we do. On Freckle, students have the opportunity to practice their writing skills through the reading prompts I provide them with! I am highlighting a few things to keep in mind when completing these writing prompts that I hope your child will read and consider doing:

  1. Think about the question. What is it asking you? What background knowledge do you already know about the topic/subject?
  2. What type of writing are you expected to do? Examples include, Narrative, Informational, Persuasive, Opinion etc.
  3. Once you begin writing, think about the following. Does my writing include an Introduction/Body Paragraph(s)/Conclusion? Does my narrative include a Beginning/Middle/Ending?
  4. Once you’re towards the end of your writing, remember to check for spelling, punctuation, and grammar mistakes!
