.January 12

Good Afternoon Families,

I hope everyone is staying warm. Just a couple of quick things:

There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 15th for Martin Luther King Day. We also have a District Wide “Late Start Day” on Wednesday, January 17th.

I realized I made mistake with the login for the abcya website. When you go to abcya.com, you want to click on class login not family login. The login info is still the same: login name: croft; login code: c2016. Then you would click Let’s Join to start playing.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. See you next week.

January 10

Welcome back everybody!!

I hope everyone had a good and restful break. I wanted to take a minute and touch base with you regarding some upcoming events.

Please check you child’s folder for the Morley Candy Makers Fundraiser. The Fundraiser starts this week and runs through Monday, January 22nd. All orders and money are due back to school on Monday, January 22nd. You will be able to pick up your orders the week of February 5th.

I forgot to add that there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 15th for martin Luther King Day.

There will be a District-Wide “Late Start” on Wednesday, January 17th. All students will come to school at 9:35 instead of 8:35.

There will also be a Half-Day on Friday, January, 26th. Students will be dismissed at 11:45.

It is Report Card Time again. I have been meeting with students and assessing how they are doing in the classroom. Report cards will come home the week of January 29th. Please continue to practice sight words, numbers, and letters with your child. Also continue to read with your child on a daily basis. During the break, I was able to find out the login information for www.abcya.com. When you go to the website, you want to click on the classroom button at the top, not the family button. Our class login name is: croft (all lowercase) and the login code is: c2016. Then click on Let’s Go, instead of Join.  I was able to log in from my computer. If you choose to use your cell phone, you will need to buy the app. Your child can practice on both abcya and Starfall.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

December 21

Dear Families,

Happy last day before break!! A couple of quick things:

Tomorrow is Pajama Day. If your child chooses to, he or she can wear their pajamas, but they need to bring in 50 cents.

Tomorrow is also our Gingerbread Party. Thank you to all the families who donated items for the party. If you are coming in to help, please come to our room at 8:40 to set up. The children will be rotating through different Holiday themed centers including a Gingerbread decorating and eating center.

Winter Break starts on Saturday, December 23rd and runs through Sunday, January 7th. I  have been meeting with the children to update their letter bags. I am also including a number matching game. Students will flip over the cards and match the numeral with the correct 10 frame and dot pattern. We have been using www.Starfall.com in our classroom. This website has different letter activities as well as, word making activities. Starfall is free when played on a computer. You would need to download and pay for the app for a tablet. I am working on getting my access name and code for www.abcya.com, which is another good website. I have also included in your child’s letter baggie, 2-3 sightwords. The words are written in purple marker and they are I, a, and the. Please have your child practice the letters, words, and numbers, in their baggies as well as, the letter activities on the websites for about 15 minutes once a day during the break.

One last quick thing: please make sure that all your child’s boots, snow pants, hats, gloves/mittens are labeled. We are currently missing a pair of snow pants. These things are really easy to mix up between students.

Thank you for all your help and support. Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Good Evening Families,

I hope everyone had a safe trip home tonight. Winter has started here in Michigan. I did have a couple quick items to share with you.

Now that it has snowed, as long as the temperature is warm enough,we will go outside as much as possible. Children will not be allowed to play in the snow unless they have snowpants; snow boots; hats; and gloves. You can either have your child wear them to school in the morning,  or put them in a bag and I will have them put them on before we go to lunch.

We have started a unit about Gingerbread Men. We will be reading different Gingerbread books, comparing which book we like the best, and sequencing the events in the stories. To wrap up the unit, our Holiday party on Friday, Decmeber 22nd, will be a Gingerbread party. During the party students will be  able to decorate and eat Gingerbead cookies. We will also need other items for our party. Below is the link for our Sign-up Genius:

www.SignUpGenius.com/go/30E0E4EA4AE2FA7FB6-holiday2. We will need 4 parent volunteers for the party to help set-up as well as clean up afterwards.

Next week is the Holiday shop. Please check your child’s folder for more information.

Next Wednesday, December 20th, will be another District “Late-Start Day”. School will start for students at 9:35 instead of 8:35.

We are still collecting NEW “Hats and Gloves” for our Drive. All donations can be dropped off in our classroom, by Friday, December 15th.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your evening.
