Kindergarten Scientists

Hi Families,

We were so excited about our Growing Alligators experiment. In fact, every scientist in our classroom returned their science display board.  Woo Hoo!   Plus, we really enjoyed teaching other students about our results.  Please take a look at our science display boards.

Week of April 30, 2019

Dear Families,

Here is what you need to know for this week in our kindergarten class:

This week’s spelling words are: dad   sad   mad  bad + 1 mystery “ad” word + your child’s individual spelling words

Please make sure that your child is practicing their individual words. 

Although we practice spelling throughout the day at school, please make it a daily habit at home.  

Leader in Me Habit 7:  We will continue to work on Sharpening the Saw-Learning how “balance is best!”  If you have any pictures of your family “Sharpening the Saw”  at home, please send them in!

Monday:   We went to gym and art today. Homework will be sent home in your child’s red folder.  For this week’s homework your child will be making their spelling words

Tuesday:    Return library books.   Music with Mrs. Baloga.

Wednesday:  We will have a guest teacher in the morning so I can attend the last of my Science Leader training. PBIS REWARD- See below

We will check out a new library book from the Media Center.

Thursday:    We will have music with Mrs. Baloga.

Friday:  Please wear gym shoes.    We will go to the computer lab with Mrs. Ackerman.  Homework is due!

 

Future Important Dates:

PBIS Reward Celebration:  Wednesday, May 2nd

The April reward is watching the Tiger Game and junky snack.  Your child may bring in a “Junky” snack (chips, candy, cookies, and soda or sports drink) to enjoy in the afternoon while watching the Tigers WIN! Students can also wear a Tiger shirt or hat on Wednesday.

 

Muffins for Mom- Friday, May 11, 2018 from 9:00-10:00 a.m.  Invitations will be sent home next week!

Wednesday:  Today Science Display boards are due!   We will check out a new library book from the Media Center.

Thursday:    We will have music with Mrs. Baloga.  Science Fair Boot Camp is tonight from 5:30-7:00 p.m.  You and your family won’t want to miss it, it going to be awesome!!!

Friday: Popcorn Day!  Bring your quarters if you are interested in buying popcorn.  Please wear gym shoes.    We will go to the computer lab with Mrs. Ackerman.  Homework is due!

Bridget’s Last Day Update

Dear Families,

Here is Bridget’s Day #7 Update:

“She grew 4 inches in 7 days!”  exclaimed scientist Cole.

Now we are taking Bridget out of the water to see what happens next.  The whole class predicts that she will start shrinking but to how much, there seems to be some disagreement!

If your child hasn’t started their experiment, please start today!

I hope you and your family are enjoying this Science Fair Boot Camp experiment at home as we have in class!

Bridget Growth Updates for Day 4-6th

Dear Families,

We continue to be excited about our alligator Bridget growing! Over the weekend, here is what happened to Bridget:

Day 4-  Bridget is now 7 1/2 inches long.

Day 5-  Bridget is now 8 inches long.

Tomorrow will be the seventh and final day of measuring Bridget.

Bridget Growth Update-Day 3

Dear Families,

Our kindergarten scientists are really excited to see the day-to-day changes in Bridget.

Here is Bridget’s growth for Day 3:

We measured Bridget and she grew 1 1/4 inches from yesterday!

If you haven’t started the Growing Alligator experiment yet, this weekend would be a great time to do so.

After the liquid of the second alligator has been chosen, ask your child to come up with a question about the experiment.

Here is an example:

Ask your child their “hypothesis” about the Experiment.  What do they think will happen with the alligators and why?

Bridget the Alligator Growth Update

Hi Families,

Our classroom was buzzing with excitement when observing Bridget’s growth today.

Here is Bridget’s Growth Update for Day 2:

 

 

 

Bridget is now 5 1/4 inches long. She grew one inch in one day.   The class observed that she is getting wider too.
