Here is what you need to know for this week in our kindergarten class:

Monday:  We have gym and art!  Thanks for returning the Nightly Literacy Homework today.

Tuesday:  Please return library books.  We will have music with Mrs. Baloga.

Wednesday: Late Start:  School starts at 9:35 a.m.  We will go to the Media Center to check out a new library book.

Thursday:  We will go to Music with Mrs. Baloga.  ABC books are due today.

Friday:  No school for kindergarten only!  Kindergarten teachers have professional development.

Black Book bags:   Thanks for making sure that parent’s sign the yellow book log in your child’s black book bag.  This helps us save time and helps keeps us organized.

Here is a snapshot of what we are learning about in our class:

Reading:  retelling stories by elements : beginning/middle/end

Writing:  writing narrative pieces that have a beginning/middle/end

Math:  Developing number sense with numbers 1-10

Social Studies:  Introducing the economic concept of needs vs. wants

Dear Families,

Conference Reminder slips will be sent home today.  Please return the bottom of the slip in your child’s red folder.

Monday:  We have gym and art!  Thanks for returning the Nightly Literacy Homework today.

Tuesday:  No School today.  Vote Today!

Wednesday:   Please return your library book today.

Thursday:  We will go to Music with Mrs. Baloga.

Friday:  ABC Books are due!  We will go to the computer lab and gym today.

Black Book bags:  New books will be sent home this week on Wednesday.  I have been busy with individual assessments and have not seen our literacy groups last week.  Please make sure that your child’s yellow Book Log paper is kept in the black book bag and not in your child’s red folder.  Thanks for staying organized!

Halloween Party

Dear Families,

Thanks to everyone who helped make our Halloween party a success! A special thanks to Amirah’s mom, Thomas’s mom, Mia’s mom, Mohamad’s mom, Jamil’s mom, Jacob’s mom, Julia’s mom and Cole’s mom for helping before, during  and after the party! The students really seemed to enjoy the 6 different stations: Halloween Poke a Prize,  Halloween bingo, Halloween toss, Halloween craft, Trick or Treat Station, and Spider Operation. Monday:  We have gym and art!  Thanks for returning the Nightly Literacy Homework today.

Tuesday:  Kindergarten Halloween Parade at 9:00 a.m. with party afterwards!  Please return your  library book.  We will have music with Mrs. Baloga.

Wednesday:   We will continue our investigation of Pushes/Pulls in the afternoon.  Our class will be checking out a new library book from the Media Center. Our PBIS reward is today!  If your child stayed on green 80 percent in the month of October, they are invited to attend this reward.  That means they needed to stay on green 18 times out of 22 days.

Thursday:  We will go to Music with Mrs. Baloga.

Friday:  ABC Books are due!  Dismissal is at 11:45 a.m.

Halloween Party Information Updated

Dear Families,

Please save the date for Tuesday, October 31, 2017!

This is the day our class will be celebrating Halloween.  Your child is invited to wear his/her Halloween costume to school. Please no masks or pretend weapons!

At 9:00 a.m. the kindergartners will parade down the halls for the rest of the school to see. Parents are welcome to come and cheer us on! Our Halloween will be immediately afterwards.   Around 10:30 a.m., the students will change out of their costumes and we will begin our regular kindergarten routine.  If you are interested in volunteering from 9:00-10:30 a.m., please leave a comment below or email me at wrightt1@dearbornschools.org.

Thanks to the families who volunteered to send in the following items need our party:

  • 24 muffins (must be peanut free)– Julia’s family
  • 1 gallon of apple cider–Henry’s family
  • 24 small apples–Mohamad’s family
  • cheese sticks– Jacob’s family
  • 2 bags of candy corn–Henry’s family
  • 24 Halloween napkins–Moussa’s family
  • 24 Halloween plates–Cole’s family
  • 24 Halloween cups–Ava’s family
  • 24 forks–Emina’s family
  • 24 spoons–Emina’s family

If your child to like to bring a wrapped treat for our Trick or Treat Station, that would be great.  Make sure there are enough treats for 23 students.

Dear Families,

I hope you enjoyed this beautiful weekend with your family!  Here is what you need to know for this week in our kindergarten class.

ABC BOOKS:  We will be studying the letters:  F, f and P, p this week. Due:  Friday, October 20th!

Words of the Week:  a , I, you, it

  • Monday:  Nightly Literacy Homework is due (soccer ball paper) please make sure it is in your child’s red folder.    Wear gym shoes for gym!  Today we will also go to Art.
  • Tuesday:  We will go to Music with Mrs. Baloga today.  Return library book to school.
  • Wednesday:  Late Start today!  Students need to arrive to school at 9:35 a.m.  Please have your child bring a healthy snack to school since we are eating a later lunch.  Field Trip to the Plymouth Apple Orchard is today!  Please make sure to dress for the weather and bring a bag lunch., along with a drink.  Chaperones need to report to our classroom at 10:15 a.m.
  • Thursday:  We will go to Music with Mrs. Baloga today.
  • Friday:  ABC books are due today- F, f and P, p pages.  We will go to the computer lab with Mrs. Ackerman and gym with Mr. Murua.

Field Trip Info.

Dear Families,

Permission slips and money are due tomorrow for Wednesday’s field trip to the Plymouth Apple Orchard.

We are able to take every chaperone who signed up to go with us.  All background checks for these chaperones have been processed and approved.  If you are a chaperone, please arrive to Lindbergh at 10:15 a.m.  You must sign-in at the office and report to our classroom.  Since this is a Late Start Day, students will need to arrive to school at 9:35 a.m.  Make sure that your child is dressed for the weather and has a bag lunch, labeled with his/her name on it.
