Week of January 29, 2018

Dear Families,

I hope you enjoyed this sunny January day with your kindergartner!

We are collecting loose change for our Leader in Me project.  This money will help purchase books for children who don’t have access to books at home.  Please send in any loose change in with your kindergarten this week!

Spelling:
Starting this week, your child will receive spelling words each Monday. Your child will be tested on these words the following Monday. These words will contain a word family with 4 “hot” words. This week’s “hot” words are: at/ cat/ mat/ sat Your child will also be tested on a “cold” word that will fit the pattern but will not be a word on their spelling list. This way we can see if your child can apply the pattern in a new way. In a few weeks, your child will also be given several individual words that are important for them to practice. Your child’s spelling notebook should always be kept in their book bag so they can practice at school and at home.

Spelling Volunteers Needed:  If you are interested in helping in our classroom with weekly spelling every Monday morning,  please let me know it will take about 45 minutes.  Thanks!

Leader in Me Habit 5:  We will be studying Habit 5.  Personally I find this Habit the most difficult habit to learn but the most important.  Please practice this habit at home with your child.

Happy Holidays from the Polar Express

Dear Families,

Our kindergartners sure were lucky to come to school today!  Here is why!

This morning the hallways of Lindbergh Elementary were filled with the aroma of delicious smelling hot chocolate.  You could trace the aroma coming from Room 114.    Our fantastic team of Homeroom Parents:  Amirah’s mom, Mia’s mom, Mohamad’ s mom and Thomas’s mom threw an amazing party.  They organized five different stations for the students to visit.  These were the fun-filled areas: the ornament station, the reindeer food station, the train station,  the pancake and hot cocoa bar, and the jingle bell toss.   Take the look at the fun!

Thank you to all the parents who were able to come and help us before, during and after the party.  Thank you to all the families who sent in $3.00 to help cover the cost of the party materials.

Lastly, I am very appreciative of all the wonderful and generous gifts that were sent in today.  I love seeing how excited these kindergartners were while the gifts were being opened.

Have a great winter break with your family!

Ms. Wright
