Math Homelink 7.2

Hi Families,

For the Homelink 7.2, it asks for your child to bring in a class collection.  Your child may choose a collection of something they would like to bring in.  Examples included but limited to:  buttons, bottlecaps, cards, etc. Please nothing valuable. In class, we will figure out a way to sort the items for our classroom collection.  This way we will use our classifying skills for science as well as our counting and data collections skills for math.

Good Luck!

Ms. Wright

Homelinks 7.14 and 8.2 will be due on Tuesday, May 27th

Your child may complete them and hand them in earlier, if they wish.  I would just like to make sure that all of the Homelinks are completed by the end of the year.

Thank you for your patience!

Ms. Wright

Help!

Dear Families,

We found our earthworms so exciting today during science that we would like to build a “worm hotel.”  If anyone has an empty, 2 liter bottle, it would really help us out!

Thanks!

April 14, 2014

Hello Families,

We sure had an exciting day in kindergarten!  Today we had an investigation of Living Vs. Non-Living things during science.  Our scientists observed and compared earthworms to gummy worms.  Take a look!

Take a look at our future electrical engineers!  These students made a working circuit during corner time.  Thanks to Leo’s mom for donating the Snap Circuit Kit.  It is a favorite in our class!

Week of April 14, 2014

Hello Families,

I hope you are enjoying the beautiful weekend!  Here are some things you need to know for the upcoming week:

Letter Study:  we are working the letters E and e this week.  Letter books are due on Thursday.

Spelling words:  we will study the “op” words.  This week’s spelling words are hop, pop, top and stop.  Your child will not be getting their own individual words this week. Your child’s spelling test will be on Thursday.

Animal Reports:  this week our class will be researching an animal, writing a circle map with the facts they found on the animal and then writing an animal report.  This will be done during Daily 5 and Writer’s Workshop time.  Therefore, your child will not be getting new books for their book bags this week.  Don’t worry, we will still be doing plenty of reading and writing.

Mad Science will not take place on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.  I have a conflict with our schedule at that time.  However, I have a very cool experiment planned for our study of Living Things Vs. Non-Living Things, just not sure when I can squeeze it in this week.  However, I will post plenty of pictures when we do it.  It should be very interesting!  🙂

Thursday is Pajama Day at Lindbergh!  It is a fundraiser for our PBIS rewards and materials.  If your child is interested in wearing his/her pajamas, please bring in a dollar to help with the fundraiser.  Thanks!

Spring Break:  No school from April 18-25th.  School resumes on April 28th!

Important Dates:

  • Thursday, May 1st Kindergarten Concert at 6:30 p.m.
  • Friday, May 9th Muffins for Moms at 2:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 14th U of M- Dearborn Pond Study Field Trip

That’s all for now!

Ms.Wright

PS  If anyone has a color printer and would be willing to print some animal pictures for our animal reports, please let me know!  Thanks!

April 11, 2014

Attention all Moms!

Please mark your calendar for Muffins for Moms!  This celebration will take place on Friday, May 9th at 2:00 p.m.  Invitations will be sent home next week.  You won’t want to miss it!

Also, we need 2 bags of marshmallows for Monday’s math lesson.  Let me know if you can have your child bring them in .

Thanks,

Ms. Wright

Wow! What a day!

Hello Families,

Our kindergartners were awesome on stage yesterday!  These “minions” were teaching the whole school about Synergize:  Working Together is Better!  Eman and Ahmad were fabulous as they performed a skit together on stage.  Great job everyone!

Near dismissal time, Andrew’s older brother Luke came and read a book called  Little Michigan to us.  He is now in third grade but it seems like yesterday he was a kindergartner in my class.  Thanks Luke for reading to us and for the delicious apples!
