Dear Families,

Here are some great pictures that I took during “Corner Time!”  Your child may have been talking at home about this favorite time referred to as”corners.”  During this time, the students choose different areas in the room  in which they would like to  work in.  Not only are we practicing our classroom expectations but our social  and problem solving skills too.  Take a look!

Here is what you need to know for the week of September 15th

  • I have been chosen as Lindbergh’s Science Leader this year!  Yahoo!  However, I will be out of our classroom on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for some extensive training.  I have requested the very best guest teachers for our class while I am out.  If you need to reach me during this time, please email me at wrightt1@dearbornschools.org.  Thanks!
  • Lunch Choice:  on Monday the choices will be ravioli and grilled cheese.  At Lindbergh, we will not served Shrimp Poppers like the menu says due to severe allergies.
  • Letter Study of the Week:  M  m    Letter books will be sent home on Monday and will need to be returned back  by Friday!  Nice job on the S page!
  • Book Fair will be in the Media Center this week.  Our preview day and time is Monday at 10:55-11:15.  If you would like to volunteer to help, please sign in at the office and meet us in the upstairs Media Center during this time!  Thanks!  During the preview, no money is needed to be sent in.  Your child will make a “wish list” that will be placed in your child’s red folder on Monday.  If you would like to purchase books, the Book Fair is open before school and after school.  The Book Fair will also be opened during Open House on Thursday, September 18th.
  • Lindbergh’s Open House will be on Thursday, September 18 from 6:00-7:30 p.m.  I am very excited to see everyone.  Although we won’t be having parent teachers conferences then, you will be able to sign up for conferences that will take place in November.
  • The weather seems to be getting cooler, please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately!
  • Lunchboxes:  please make sure that your child’s name is marked on the outside of the lunchbox.  It makes it so handy when it is well-marked as we pass them out at dismissal time.
  • Classroom Behavior:  in order to maintain a positive learning environment for our students, it is very important that our students learn to follow directions the first time given.  Please give your child a pep talk about this each morning before school.

Thanks for your support!

Ms. Wright

Late Start Tomorrow!

Hi Families,

I just wanted to remind you that Late Start is tomorrow.  The first bell rings at 9:35 a.m.  Dismissal will be at the regular time 3:35 p.m.

Also, if you are interested in becoming a Homeroom parent for our classroom, please let me know by email or by putting a note in your child’s red folder.  A homeroom parent helps us plan special classroom activities throughout the year.  If you already mentioned interest in becoming a Homeroom Parent to me personally, please still send me an email or note.  I am still matching faces with families.

Lastly, please mark your child’s name on the outside of their lunch box if you haven’t already done so.

Thanks so much!

Ms. Wright

Mondays:  Physical Education (wear gym shoes)

Tuesdays:  Music and Art

Wednesdays: Music

Daily 5:

We have started our literacy model called Daily 5.  Today we made an I-chart about Read to Self and what it should look like in our kindergarten room.  Here is the chart.

Next, the students went to a quiet spot in our room and practiced Read to Self.  They were able to follow the Read to Self procedures for over 8 minutes.  I think that might just be a kindergarten record for the second full day of school!  Here are some pictures I took yesterday during some practice.  Take a look at some great readers!

Fantastic First Day of Kindergarten!

Welcome Kindergarten Families,

We sure had a busy morning today!  It was so nice to see all the eager-eyed kindergartners with their families.  Take a look at the Class of 2027!

We even had time for a scavenger hunt with one of our favorite characters The Gingerbread Man!

He left us clues all over the school which was a great way to tour the building and meet some important people at Lindbergh.  Then he left us a tasty treat!

Dismissal Time:

Thanks for your patience at dismissal time!  Everyone went to the right spot at the right time.

If your child walks out with me, please wait outside by #1.  We are working hard to keep your child safe in the hallway and that is much easier when the hallways are clear.  Plus, it shows your child how you follow the Lindbergh Way!:) If you notice your child goes to you without saying good-bye to me, please make sure that your child turns around and walks back to me so I know who they are going home with.

School Supplies:

A big thank you for all the wonderful school supplies that were sent to school today!  My supply cupboard is well-stocked and we should be all set for the school year.

Until next time….

Ms. Wright

A big thank you!

Dear Families,

Room 114 is officially cleaned and packed up for next year!  Yahoo!

I just wanted to thank you for the generous end of the year class gifts!  The class scrapbook was one of the most thoughtful gifts I have ever received.  I loved how each student wrote their own page.  Thanks to Billy’s mom for organizing and putting it all together.  Amazingly enough, not one student even mentioned anything about it! Furthermore, as a science enthusiast , the microscope kit was another perfect gift for me.  Believe me, this kit will get much use.  My youngest son explained that we needed to “practice using this important science tool this summer so you will know how to use it in the fall!” 🙂  Those gifts were more than enough, but the gift giving kept on going!  I loved receiving all the gift cards to my favorite places around town!

Also, Ms. Wright’s Writing Project is off to a great start.  I have already received 3 letters.  Keep them coming.  I love writing and getting letters!!!

Enjoy the summer!  Please keep in touch!

Ms. Wright

PS  Please let your child know that the tadpoles now have tiny legs.

Kindergarten News

Hi Families,

Just a few thing you need to know for tomorrow and during the summer!

  • Report cards will be sent home tomorrow.  There will also be a note from me, telling your about your child’s reading level.
  • Our school has purchased Study Island for students to use over the summer.  It is a great way for students to practice their reading and math skills over the summer.  If your interested, go to studyisland.com.  Your child’s username and password will be stapled to their report card.
  • Your child will still have access to Raz-Kids over the summer.  It is a great way to have books at your child’s reading level right at their fingertips.  If you run into any trouble, or need your child’s level changed, I do check my email during the summer months!
  • Ms. Wright’s Writing Program:  I love getting mail in the summer, especially when their are not bills or junk mail.  Each year, I invite my students to write me over the summer.  If they write me, I promise to write them back.  I love sending really cool surprises and postcards while traveling.  The only catch is that your child must write me first!  This is a great way for students to practice reading and writing over the summer.  My address is attached to the report card.
  • The Lindbergh rule is no backpacks on the last day!  I am not sure if I agree with this rule, however I am a rule follower so leave your child’s backpack at home.  The red folders are yours to keep!
  • Dismissal time is at 11:45 a.m.

It has been a pleasure to have been your child’s kindergarten teacher!  Thanks for all support this year!

Have a fabulous summer!

Ms. Wright

Last Week of Kindergarten Information

Hello Families,

I can’t believe that it is the last week of kindergarten!  We will begin taking home many things this week, so please make sure your child brings his/her backpack to school everyday!

Any unpaid lunch money and/or unreturned library books must be received as soon as possible!

On Wednesday, Lindbergh will be busy with Field Day.  This fun event will take place out in the back field where each class will participate in a variety of stations.  Please make sure that your child wears comfortable shoes and sunscreen.  Our class is scheduled to begin Field Day at 9:35-11:30 a.m.  If it rains, there will be alternate plans.  Our generous Lindbergh PTA is providing your child with a cheese pizza lunch, so there is no need to pack!  You are welcome to join us!

Report cards will be sent home on Thursday, June 12th.  Remember that dismissal is at 11:45 a.m.!

Until next time,

Ms. Wright
