100th Day of School

Dear Families,

I posed the question “How much would 100 drops of water be?” to our kindergarten scientists.  Most of us thought that it would overflow an 8 ounce cup.  Then we took out our pipettes and tested it out.  We found out that 100 drops of water is not much at all, it barely covered the bottom of the cup.

I just wanted to thank you for all of the wonderful Valentine’s Day cards and treats!  It was such a busy day that I didn’t get to open these special treats in front of the students.  But trust me, I have sampled many of the delicious chocolates and cookies, read every card and smelled every flower!

Thanks again!

100th Day Poster Directions

Dear Families,

In case  your child’s note regarding the 100th Day didn’t make it home, here are the directions:

On Tuesday, February 24, we will be celebrating the 100th day of school.  Prior to that day, your child will need to create a poster showing a 100. The poster will be done at home but can be turned in on the 100th day or before.  They are to draw, stick, etc.  100 things on their poster.  Have your child make it as creative as they can.  Anything goes as long as there is a 100 of something on the poster.

Thanks!

Ms. Wright

P.S.  Your child may use construction paper or ½ of poster board.  Please no foam board!  I would like to hang up these posters in the hallway for everyone to see, however I am not ready to take the timelines down. That means we are running low on space.  Thanks for your understanding.

Happy Valentines’s Day

Dear Families,

We had a packed classroom today during our Valentine’s Day party !  The kindergartners really seemed to enjoy the six different Valentine corners.  Ask your child what was their favorite corner.  The students made delicious looking “floats”, they built towers using tweezers and conversation hearts, they graphed M & M’s, they created and delivered valentine cards.

Thanks to everyone who brought in treats and party materials. We had everything we needed and more! 🙂

A huge thanks to Tyler’s mom, Gracie’s mom, Isaac’s grandma, Ian’s mom, Zoey’s grandma, Kamyl’s mom, Kate’s dad, Lydia’s mom, Jack’s mom, Charlie’s mom,  Thomas’s mom, Elijah’s mom, Sebastian’s mom and dad.

If you took any pictures during the party, I would love to post them on the blog!  Just email them to me and I will do just that!

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Have a great break!

Many Thanks…

Dear Families,

I just wanted to thank everyone for all the school supplies that came pouring in this week.  I think our inventory of glue sticks and white boards matches that of my favorite Target store!  🙂

One more thing.  Our kindergarten class will be celebrating the 100th Day of Kindergarten on Tuesday, February 24th.  In your child’s folder, there is a note explaining the home project of the  100th Day poster.  If you have any questions about it, feel free to email me over the break, I will be checking my email.  My son has the same project so we will be  busy working on it at ourtoo.

Have a great break!

Roll A Ball Experiment

Hello Parents,

We conducted another science experiment on our Earth Materials today.  This time, each scientist took a turn seeing if they could roll their earth material into a ball.

We found out that:

  • Clay was the easiest earth material to roll into a ball.
  • Gravel can not be rolled into a ball.
  • Sand can be rolled into a ball if you have the right amount of water.
  • Soil can be shaped into a ball but not by rolling.
  • Things that are sticky are best to be used for rolling into a ball.

Thanks to Isaac’s Aunt Megan for helping us today and for taking such great pictures!  Thanks to my friend Mrs. Anderson for helping too.
