Tomorrow is our Summer Field Trip!

Dear families,

So far we have 40 students signed up to attend our Pond Study on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m!  Here are some helpful hints to make our pond study successful:

  • There is a parking structure located across the street from the Interpretative Center.  Feel free to park there.
  • Meet us inside the Interpretative Center on the U of M-Dearborn campus.  There will be a brief overview about the pond study.  We will leave our lunches inside the Interpretative Center.
  • Please wear long pants and long sleeve shirts.
  • Wear closed-toed shoes.
  • You may use/bring mosquito repellent.
  • If it is raining on the morning of the field trip, the trip will need to be rescheduled for a non-rainy day!

See you tomorrow!

Ms. Wright

Pond Study Summer Field Trip Information!

Dear families,

So far we have 33 students signed up to attend our Pond Study on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m!  Here are some helpful hints to make our pond study successful:

  • Please wear long pants and long sleeve shirts.  I know it seems crazy but my sons and I bike over there and it can be really buggy with lots of mosquitoes.
  • Wear closed-toed shoes.
  • You may use/bring mosquito repellent.
  • If it is raining on the morning of the field trip, the trip will need to be rescheduled for a non-rainy day!

Since the response for this field trip as been great, if you have any ideas for a possible August summer field trip, let me know.  I love to keep my own children busy learning and experiencing new things.  I would be happy to plan something!

I miss these kindergartners and have really enjoyed getting letters and postcards in my mailbox almost daily!

Enjoy the day!

Ms. Wright

A Few Last Things…

Dear Families,

We had an interesting time at Field Day today!  Thanks to the parent helpers who came and helped out.  Here are a few pictures that Kamyl’s mom sent me.  Take a look:

20150609_095956  20150609_093459 20150609_10220520150609_094339 20150609_112633

I can’t believe that tomorrow is the last day of Kindergarten!!  Here are a few things you need to know:

  • Please do not have your child bring their backpack to school tomorrow.  It is a school rule.  I am not sure I agree with it but we follow the school rules in our classroom.
  • Your child’s report card, NWEA test scores, reading scores, and helpful websites will be sent home.  I am sending each child home with a goodie bag, so everything will be in there.
  • I am sending home directions on how to use the website Moby Max as well.  Great website to use over the summer.  Also, your child’s login information to use the Everyday Math website will be included. (A huge apology to Lydia’s mom!!  Sorry it took me so long to  send it home!!!)
  • Your child will have access to Raz-Kids until next October, so please take advantage of it.  If your child’s level needs to be changed, email me and I will gladly change it.  Yes, I do check my email in the summer.  🙂
  • Possible summer field trip:  U of M-Dearborn pond study.  I love this free field trip but it has gotten so popular that we couldn’t arrange it during the school year.  If I can get a spot, I would love to meet up with you and your child this summer.  I will post it on the blog, once it is confirmed.  Siblings 4 years or older would be welcome to join us.
  • Ms. Wright’s Writing Club:  For the last twenty years I have encouraged students to write me over the summer.  A great way to practice real writing skills.  I still have students who are now in high school and college who still write to me each year.  If your child would like to participate, they need to write to me first.  If they do, I will write letters to them back and even send postcards while on vacation, etc.  It is really fun!  I will send my address home with them in the goodie bag tomorrow.
  • The white data binders were sent home today.  I took out the info that next year’s teacher needed.  However, hang onto the binders since they will need a white binder in first grade.
  • To celebrate our kindergarten year, we will be watching our Kindergarten Slideshow at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.  If you are free, please join us.  We are also planning to eat Ice Cream Sundaes beforehand at around 10:00 a.m.

Lastly, thank you for allowing me the privilege to be your child’s kindergarten teacher this year!  It has been an amazing year.!

Have a great summer!

Ms. Wright

Hello Families,

I can’t believe that it is the last week of kindergarten!  We will begin taking home many things this week, so please make sure your child brings his/her backpack to school everyday!

Any unpaid lunch money and/or unreturned library books must be received as soon as possible!

On Monday, your child will have their last spelling test.  The words are:   bun  fun   run  sun-no individual words

On Tuesday, Lindbergh will be busy with Field Day.  This fun event will take place out in the back field where each class will participate in a variety of stations.  Please make sure that your child wears comfortable shoes and sunscreen.  Our class is scheduled to begin Field Day at 9:35-11:30 a.m.  If it rains, there will be alternate plans.  Our generous Lindbergh PTA is providing your child with a cheese pizza lunch, so there is no need to pack!  You are welcome to join us!

To celebrate our kindergarten year, we will be watching our Kindergarten Slideshow at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.  If you are free, please join us.  We are also planning to eat Ice Cream Sundaes.  If you are able to donate any items listed below, please leave a comment so others can see what has already been donated.  Thank you in advance!:)

Donuts for Dads!

Dear Families,

We had a great time during our Donuts for Dads event this morning.  Thanks to everyone who donated donuts, juice boxes and paper products.  A special thanks to Ian’s mom for helping set-up, taking some great pictures and for cleaning up!  It sure was nice that everyone could come.  Each year, I always worry that someone might not come and every year I am so happy when every student has someone special to come for them. Thanks to my own dad, the real “Mr.Wright!” for coming too!  🙂

Donations Needed for a Mission Trip

Dear Families,

I am posting this on behalf of Wade’s family.  Please read below if you are interested in donating supplies for their mission trip.  Thanks!!

In August of this year, my husband and I are going on a mission trip to Quito, Ecuador with our church.  In collaboration with Extreme Response Missions, we are going to be working mainly with kids in underprivileged neighborhoods, including an area known as “Quito Dump” (please Google it!). It is estimated that we will impact approximately 500 kids through four different half day Vacation Bible Schools.

We are in need of craft supplies such as:  Crayola crayons, toothpicks, bracelet rubber bands, construction paper, wiggle eyes, Elmer’s white glue, ribbon, pony beads, charms, bells and buttons with large holes. In addition, we also need monetary donations for other supplies. If you wish to provide a donation to assist with this mission, please bring or send it with your child to Ms. Wright’s class before the end of the school year.  If you have any questions, please contact me atwade_and_ida@yahoo.com or (787) 630-9275. Prayers for success, safety and positive impact on this mission are much appreciated!

Nightly Reading Homework

Dear Families,

Many students remembered to bring in their Nightly Reading Homework and charm necklaces to school this morning.  If your child did not, they may bring them  to school tomorrow.

Thanks!
