Week of November 2, 2015

Hello Families,

I hope you are enjoying the extra hour of time this weekend.

First before I we get into the details of this upcoming week in kindergarten, I just want to thank everyone for helping us with our glow in the dark Halloween party on Friday.  Thanks to everyone who volunteered their time, sent in goodies and materials or came by to see our kindergarten parade.  Unfortunately I was on a mad dash to visit my own sons’ halloween festivities that I left my camera at school.  Fortunately here are some pictures that Yuan’s mom took.  If you happened to take any pictures from Friday’s party, I would love you to email them to me at wrightt1@dearbornschools.org.  Thanks!  Take a look!

Monday:  Letter books will be sent home today.  We are working on the letters N and n.  Please wear gym shoes.  Please return library books.  Our PBIS reward will be at 2:00 p.m.  The Dearborn High Marching Band will come and perform for all the students who made the reward this month, for us that is everyone in our class.  Great job kindergartners!!

Monday:  Letter books will be sent home.  We are working on the letter T t.

Tuesday:  Return library books

Wednesday:  I will be out in the afternoon but will have Mrs. Smith as our guest teacher, she is excellent!

Friday:  We will be celebrating Halloween!

  • If your child wishes, they may wear his/her costume to school.  Please no masks or pretend weapons props.
  • We will start our Kindergarten Halloween Parade around the school at 9:00 a.m. This is where we parade up and down the hallways so everyone can see our cool costumes.  Parents are welcome to stay and take pictures. The parade lasts about 10 minutes.  If you can’t make it, we will post plenty of pictures on the blog, so no worries!  :)
  • After the parade, the kindergartners will go upstairs to watch a Halloween video while parent volunteers transform our classroom into a Halloween Party Headquarters.  If you can volunteer to help with the party, please leave a comment below.
  • In the past, the party lasts until 11:15 a.m.
  • At 11:15 a.m. students will change into their regular school clothes so costumes won’t need to be worn during lunch or recess.  Please remember to bring a change of clothes.

We discussed other foods that we use all 5 senses.  Rena told us “cereal”( like snap, crackle, and pop.)

Ben thought of “pepsi.”

At dinner tonight, try to think of other foods that you use all 5 senses with.

Good Luck!

Apple Fun!

Dear Families,

While getting ready for our field trip to the apple orchard, we used apples during reading, writing, science and even math.  We tested our sense of taste to found out what kind of apple our class liked best.
