See you tomorrow!

Dear Families,
I just wanted to thank everyone for all of the holiday goodies, gifts, and cards! I very much appreciate your kindness. However, like I tell the students ” your parents send me a gift every time you come to school!” It really is true! Also, thanks to everyone who contributed to the class gift. The generous Visa gift card will be burning a hole in my pocket until I get the chance to use it on something special.
Thanks to our Homeroom parents (Aailyah’s mom, Adam’s mom and Yuan’s mom) who helped make it all possible. A big thumbs-up to everyone who send in treats and supplies. We had tons of delicious food for everyone! We were so happy to have so many parents and family members who helped us before, during and after the party. I lost count after 12 parents came through the door! 🙂
Thanks to Zach’s mom for the pictures posted below. Unfortunately I left my camera at school with all the party pictures. If anyone gets a chance, please email me any pictures from the party at wrightt1@dearbornschools.org.
Happy Holidays!
Ms. Wright

Dear families,
Here are the students of the month from Room 114! Congratulations to Zach Schook and Alaina Anani. These two students were caught being kind to others when they had no idea Ms. Wright was looking!! Keep it up!!
There are the students who read each night during the month of November. Please keep up this daily habit at home. This month we increased the minutes from 10 minutes to 15 minutes. Good Luck!
Here is what you need to know for this week:

Monday: Wear gym shoes. Return library books. Letter books will be sent home. We will go to gym and art today.
Tuesday: We will go to music and the media center to check out library books.
Wednesday: We will go to the Santa Shop today. A Santa Shop informational letter and envelopes were sent home on Friday. We will have a guest teacher, Mrs. Smith, in the morning since I will be at a science leader training.
Thursday: We will go to music.
Friday: We will go to gym and the computer lab.
RAZ- KIDS: Tomorrow in your child’s red folder you will receive directions for your child’s RAZ-Kids account. RAZ- Kids is an on-line reading program. It has hundreds of leveled books for your child to choose from. It is a great way for your child to practice reading and listening to stories on the computer. Although reading real books is still my favorite way to go, students need practice navigating on the computer especially with all the high-stakes testing they will face. My own sons and former students love using RAZ-Kids. The students will take a quiz after completing a book to check for understanding. Note: the quizzes start at Level A. I will model how to use RAZ-Kids in class so they students will be experts by the time they come home. Your child’s RAZ-Kids account was paid by the PTA basket money! Thanks again for donating towards our Mad Science basket!)
Here are just some things we will be working in class over the next few weeks:
Reading: We are working on retelling stories as well as practicing sounds.
Math: We are practicing answering “how many?”
Social Studies: We are continuing our study of needs and wants/ goods and services.
Science: We are studying pushes and pulls.
Writing: We will continue opinion writing.
Leader in Me: We will live habits 1-7.
Have a great week!
Ms. Wright
Dear families,
Yesterday, Mrs. Wloch (Ruby’s aunt and a registered dietitian) came to our classroom to teach us about how we “need” healthy snacks although we might “want” other snacks. She did an excellent showing the students how much sugar is in many of the things we love to snack on. Your child brought home 3 yellow spoons yesterday to help visualize how many sugar we should actually eat in one day. Mrs. Wloch taught us that we should be looking for healthy snacks to have less than 3 grams of sugar in a serving.
Thanks Mrs. Wloch for coming to teach us about healthy snacks!
Dear Families,
I wouldn’t be surprised if your child is napping right now since our day was very busy. Thanks to Ali’s sister, Rokaya’s mom, Ben’s dad, Jack’s mom, Ruby’s mom, Zach’s mom and Mohamad’s mom and dad for coming and helping us at Kroger and Lifetime.
While at Krogers, the students worked in small groups looking for needs, wants, goods, services, service workers and made a trade. Take a look.
Here are some pictures of our Kroger trip.
Next, we boarded the bus and went to Lifetime. Here the students had an opportunity to go rock climbing.
While in the gym, the students rotated through 5 different push and pull stations. Students used materials such as: scooters, hockey sticks, rackets, ropes and balloons to demonstrate pushes and pulls.
I didn’t get many pictures while in the gym area so if you took any pictures, please email them to me at wrightt1@dearbornschools.org.
When this tired class arrived back to our classroom, the students asked if we could go on another field trip tomorrow!
I am off to rest! 🙂
Ms. Wright
