A Few More Things!

Hello Families,

Please help me welcome a new student to our classroom.  His name is Hamzeh and will come tomorrow.  We are excited to meet our new friend!!  🙂

FYI:  Jump Rope for Heart money is due by February 29th.  Please check Mr. Murua’s blog for any additional information you need.  Thanks!

Today we previewed the Scholastic Book Fair.  Your child made a wish list.  If you would like them to purchase books during school, please place the wish list and money in an envelope in your child’s red folder.  The book fair is open after school until 4:00 p.m. if you would like to take them yourself.

This week your child may wear a hat to school for a donation.  Each day they wear a hat it is a $1.00 donation.  The money will go towards helping the City of Flint with their water crisis.

I am sure that as soon as I push the “publish” button I will think of something else, but until then…

Have a fantastic Monday!!

Ms. Wright

The Snowy Day!!

Dear Families,

Since we have been reading The Snowy Day by Erza Jack Keats this week and haven’t been able to enjoy the snow outside, we decided to bring the snow inside today!  Yes, we turned our “sand table” into a “snow table!”

Several students thought the snow might right melt away but we discovered that we could play with it and even do some coloring mixing with it!

Take a look!

These students were so excited to do a “science experiment” that they immediately put on their gloves and safety goggles and got right to work!

Have your child make a hypothesis about what will the snow in our “snow table” will look like tomorrow!

Stay warm!

Week of January 11, 2016

Dear Families,

Here is what you need to know for this week:

Letter of the week:  G g

Words of the week:  we   to

This week will be a tad like Finals Week for Kindergarten!  The students will be taking the NWEA tests in the computer lab.  Rumor has it that it could be Monday morning, however the official schedule has not been finalized yet.  Just in case, make sure that your child gets plenty of sleep this week and eats a good, healthy breakfast (just like you provide them with every morning!:))  Besides the NWEA assessments, I will be giving the students’ individual assessments in reading and math.  I will not be seeing your child in a small group until the assessments are completed.   Therefore they will not be receiving new books in their book bag.  Please have your child continue to reread the books they already have.  Also, encourage your child to read on Raz-Kids. Your student can access Raz-kids on a computer, tablet, or phone, by going to www.kidsa-z.com/login/Wrightt10.

Monday:  We will go to gym and art.  Letter books will be sent home today.  Return library books.

Tuesday:  We will go to music and the media center.

Wednesday:  We will have a guest teacher in the morning since I will be attending science training.

Thursday:  We will go to music.

Friday:  Please return library books. We will go to gym and the computer lab.

Stay warm,

Ms. Wright
