100th Day of School

Dear Families,

I can’t believe our class will be celebrating the “100th Day of Kindergarten” on Tuesday, February 23rd!  Time sure flies when you are having fun while you are learning.

We will be having a special snack.  We call it “Gorp”  🙂  To make our gorp in class we will combine different snacks to equal 100.  Below is a list of suggested items we could use to help make our snack.  If you would like to send something in, that would be awesome!

Suggested items:  ( no nuts)

mini pretzels      cheese  puffs             mini marshmallows

goldfish               popcorn                      M&M’s

cheerios               animal crackers     veggie straws

Thanks again for your continued support!!

A Few More Things!

Hello Families,

Aaaahhhhhh!  I knew as soon as I pushed the “submit” button yesterday I I forgot a few things.  Here’s what I left out of yesterday’s posts:

Thanks to Zach’s mom for setting up our visit with Firefighter Mike and taking such great pictures!  You Rock!  Thanks to Aailyah’s mom and Adam’s mom for helping with science yesterday.  Way to go!!!  (Yes, the room was actually cleaner than before you came! :))

One last thing, if you have an ice cream scoop that we could borrow for our Valentine’s Day party today, that would be most appreciated.  Please label the scooper with your name so we will make sure that it gets returned to you today.

Have a great day!!

Mad Science Strikes Again

Dear Families,

Today we started our Project Based Learning Unit on Earth Science.  The kindergarten scientists investigated four different earth materials:  clay, soil, sand and gravel by using magnifying glasses and tweezers.  Was it messy?  Yes!  Was it noisy?  Yes!  Were the students engaged?  Yes!  Did they learn lots about earth materials?  Double yes!

Thanks Firefighter Mike!

Dear Families,

Today we had Zach’s uncle visit our classroom, who happens to be a Allen Park firefighter!  He taught us very important fire safety information.
