Open House!

Dear Families,

openhouse

I look forward to seeing you tonight at Open House from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m.! Please bring your child with you so they can show you around our room and school.  Also, remember to sign up for your child’s parent/teacher conference while you are visiting our classroom.  Sign-up sheets will be at the “rainbow table.”

Have a fantastic day!

Hello Full Day!

Dear Families,

Today we had a great first full day of kindergarten!  The students were excited to eat lunch in the cafeteria.  They did an amazing job!  The day flew by and before we knew it, the dismissal bell was ringing!

Just a few reminders:

  • Please make sure your child knows if they are a “packer” meaning that they brought their lunch to school or if they are a “buyer.”  If they are buying a lunch, please make sure they know what they are buying.  We make our lunch choices first thing in the morning so lunches can be ordered.
  • Please label your child’s lunchbox on the outside of their lunchbox.  This makes it so much easier when we are passing them out at the end of the day.  Thanks for your help with this!
  • Please send in an unframed 4X6 family photo by tomorrow.  These pictures will be sent home but not until the end of the year.  A copy of a picture will be just fine.

Happy Birthday to Levi!  He is our first birthday of the school year!  Thanks for the delicious birthday treats!

We started our literacy model this morning called Daily 5.  The first component is called Read to Self.  This is where students sit individually in different areas in the room and “read” books from our book boxes.  Our class did amazingly well and were able to stay on task for over 6 minutes!  Take a look at our readers!

Many students have already brought some favorite books from home to put in their book box.  This really helps them to stay on task during Read to Self.

Things to remember for next week:

  • Monday:  No School   ( Usually we would be going to gym and art today!)
  • Tuesday:  We will go to the computer lab with Mrs. Ackerman and to music with Mrs. Baloga.
  • Wednesday:  Please bring in an unframed family photo to school today.
  • Thursday:  We will go to music with Mrs. Baloga.  Come visit our classroom during Open House from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
  • Friday:  We will have media with Mrs. Ackerman and gym with Mr. Murua.  Please wear your gym shoes to school!

See you on Tuesday!

Hello Families,

We have survived the heatwave in our classroom!  Hope this finds yourself feeling cooler too.  Today we had a busy day in kindergarten!  In fact, we ran out of time to do our favorite “free choice corner time.”  We have been working hard on learning our new classroom rules and procedures.  Today we selected our new “leadership jobs.”  Ask your child how they are a leader in our room.

peanut-free

We are a peanut free classroom!  Please do not send in any snacks, treats or anything that will be eaten in our classroom containing “peanuts.”  You may pack something that contains peanuts that will be eaten in the cafeteria only.  Thanks for helping us keep all of our students healthy!

Family Photos Needed!

We are making a “My Family” bulletin board in our classroom.  Please have your child bring in a unframed, 4×6 family photo in their red folder by Wednesday, September 14th.  Thanks!

Here are few pictures I was able to take during our busy morning:

Fantastic Day in Kindergarten!

Hello Families!

We had another great day in Kindergarten today!

thanks images

  • A huge thanks to everyone who brought in school supplies. We really appreciate your generosity and will put everything to good use.
  • Every student brought back their red folder today!  Hooray!
  • Most students brought in a healthy snack today!
  • Most students sent in their Dismissal sheets and student information paperwork.

This morning sure went by quickly.  We spent time going over important classroom, hallway and recess procedures to keep everyone safe and ready to learn.

We had a delicious math lesson today with fruit loops.  It was a fun way to practice counting.  Ask your child about it.  I was able to sneak a few pictures, so take a look.

First Day of Kindergarten!

Dear Families,

Today we had a fantastic first day of school.  All 20 students were eager to learn and explore our  kindergarten room.

Here are a few helpful hints for this week:

  • Please make sure that your child lines up on the #4 on the side south blacktop.  Thanks for doing such a great job this morning.
  • Please say your goodbyes to your child outside.  Kindergarten is all about being independent!
  • Dismissal will be at 11:45 a.m. this week.
  • Please pack a healthy snack for your child.  No cookies, chips or candy.
  • If your child would like to bring a water bottle to school, that would be fine.  Please mark the water bottle with your child’s name on it.
  • I will be doing individual screenings on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday this week.  Each screening takes about 15 minutes.  I will make sure to bring the sign-up sheet outside at arrival time.
  • Please make sure that your child returns his/her red folder to school, along with the dismissal sheet and student information paperwork.

This morning we read the story, The Gingerbread Man Loose in the  School by Laura Murray.  Then we had to look for clues all around the school.  This was a wonderful way to become more familiar with the school as well as meet important people at Lindbergh.  Ask your child about where we found the clues and what did the Gingerbread Man leave for us in our classroom.

Yogurtopia Gift Cards!

yogurtopia

Dear Families,

In your child’s red folder tonight you will find a Yogurtopia gift card.  This card  was generously donated by Hamzeh’s family.  They actually own Yogurtopia.  Honestly, my own family will find any reason to celebrate with a Yogurtopia treat!  Just yesterday, my son Trent asked me, “I got all my spelling words right, can we go to Yogurtopia?”  That one is always looking for a win-win situation!  Hopefully we will see you and your family up there during the summer!

Enjoy!
