Dear Families,

Happy May Day!

Here is what  you need to know for this week in our kindergarten class:

Poem of the Week:  Color Rap

Last Week’s Spelling words:  bob   cob   job   sob+ mystery word  +  2 individual words.  Your child will be tested on these words on Tuesday.

New  Spelling Words:  “og” family:  dog  fog  log  jog + mystery word  +  2 individual words.  Your child will be tested on these words next Tuesday.

  • Monday:  We will go to gym and art today.  Please return library book, spelling notebook, poetry journal and Nightly Literacy Homework.  We will have our PBIS Reward in the afternoon!
  • Tuesday:   Spelling Test today.  We will have music today.  Running Club!  PTA Meeting at 7:00 p.m. in Lindbergh’s cafeteria.
  • Wednesday: Living Science Lab.
  • Thursday:  We will have music today.  Running Club
  • Friday: We will have computer lab and gym today.  Please return your Muffin for Moms slip so we know who is coming!

Daily 5:  For the next two weeks, your child will not be getting new books in their book bag.  During this time, we will be working on our publishing center books, animal reports as well as some surprises for Muffins for Moms. However, feel free to practice books on Raz-kids.

Donuts for Dads will be on Friday, June 9th at 9:00 a.m.  Please mark your calendar today!!

I hope you had a great long weekend with your kindergartner.  Here is what you need to know for this week in our classroom.

Poem of the Week: 3 D Shapes

Last week’s Spelling words:  We have been studying the “ip” words:  hip    lip    sip     rip  + 1 “ip” mystery word + 2 individual words (your child will get these words tomorrow)  Your child will be tested on these words on Wednesday.

New spelling words:  “it” family:   fit   hit   pit   sit + mystery word  +  2 individual words.  These words will be glued into your child’s spelling notebook on Wednesday.

  •  Monday:  We went  class  to gym and art today.
  • Tuesday:  There will be a guest teacher today.  Please return library books if you didn’t yesterday.  We will have music today.  Running Club is still on today!
  • Wednesday: Spelling test today.
  • Thursday:  We will have music today.
  • Friday: We will have computer lab and gym today.

Good luck to Dominic, Jake and Noah who will be running in the Martian Marathon on Saturday.  Come cheer them on at Ford Field Park at 12:00 p.m.

Our Living/ Non-Living or Dead Lab!

Dear Families,

As we kicked off our new Living Science unit today, our kindergarten scientists were engaged in a living/non-living or dead lab.  There were ten stations and the student had to think about whether the object was living/non-living or dead.

It was fascinating to listen to these scientists talk about their thinking about living/non-living or dead items.

Ask your child about what they learned in science today!

All About Shapes

Dear Families,

We started our new math unit earlier this week on Shapes.  By the end of the unit, students will need be able to identify, compare and construct 2-d and 3-d shapes.  Take a look at we have been doing so far:

As we move forward in our unit, please encourage your child to use the following words: sphere, cylinder, cube, cone, pyramid and rectangular prism at home.

Students of the Month!

Dear Families,

Please help me congratulate Maryam Abdul-Hak and Molly Kristensen as our Students of the Month!  During the month of March, these two Lindbergh Flyers stayed on green and completed all homework assignments.  Way to go Maryam and Molly.  Keep up the excellent work!

I hope you had some time to “sharpen the saw” with your kindergartner over the break.  Here is what you need to know for this week in our class:

Poem of the Week:  Superstar, Superstar

Spelling words:  We are studying the “ip” words:  hip    lip    sip     rip  + 1 “ip” mystery word + 2 individual words (your child will get these words tomorrow)  Your child will be tested on these words on Tuesday, April 18th.

  •  Monday:  This week’s poem was glued into the Poetry Journal today.  Spelling words were glued into Spelling Notebooks today.  The class went to gym and art today.
  • Tuesday:  Please return library books if you didn’t yesterday.  We will have music today.  PTA Meeting tonight at 7:00 p.m. in Lindbergh’s cafeteria.
  • Wednesday:  Late Start today:  School begins at 9:35 a.m.
  • Thursday:  We will have music today.
  • Friday:  No School
