Dear Families.

Here is what you need to know for this week in our kindergarten class:

This week’s poem:  Donuts for Dads

Spelling Words:  pen   den   ten   men

  • Monday:  We will go to gym and art today.  Please return spelling notebook, poetry journal and Nightly Literacy Homework.
  • Tuesday:   We will have music today.
  • Wednesday: Please return your book bag today.  We will start returning all reading group books to the book room today.
  • Thursday:  We will have music today. Our PBIS Reward will be  at 2:40-3:10 p.m.  Wear your Detroit Tiger gear and bring a “junkie” snack to eat while we watch part of the Tiger Game.
  • Friday:   Donuts for Dads at 9:00 a.m.  Please arrive on time. We don’t want anyone to panic thinking that you are not coming!  We will have computer lab and gym today.

Students of the Month

Dear Families,

Please help me congratulate Noah Zeitoun and James Czaak as our Students of the Month!  During the month of May, these two Lindbergh Flyers stayed on green and completed all homework assignments.  Way to go Noah and James!.  Keep up the excellent work!

Week of May 29, 2017

Dear Families,

I hope you are enjoying this gorgeous day with your family.  Here is what you need to know for this week:

Poem:  Review of all previous poems

Words of the Week:  Review of all word families

  • Monday:  No School
  • Tuesday:  We will have spelling test on these words:  bed  fed  led  red + 1 mystery “ed” word  We will have music with Mrs. Baloga.  All library books were due back last week, so if your child hasn’t returned their book please do so as soon as possible.
  • Wednesday: The students will be attending the “Brainstormers” assembly at 9:00 a.m.  Then we will start boarding the bus for our field trip to U of M-Dearborn for a pond study.  If you are a chaperone, please report to our classroom at 9:30 a.m.  Make sure that your child is dressed for the weather.  They will need a bag lunch, clearly labeled with their name on it- plus a drink but no glass.  We will eat our lunch at U of M- Dearborn after our pond study.  After lunch we will board the bus and enjoy some time at Levagood Park.  We will be playing at the playground across the street from Divine Child Church.

I am looking for a parent or 2 who can meet us at Levagood Park and bring popsicles and bottled water for us to enjoy in the afternoon.

  • Thursday:  We will have music with Mrs. Baloga.  We will also be getting ready for tomorrow’s  Lindbergh’s Leadership Day.
  • Friday:  Today is Lindbergh’s Leadership Day!  Please make sure that your child wears their light blue leadership shirt or Lindbergh red today.  We will have computer lab and gym in the afternoon.

Week of May 22, 2017

Dear Families,

I hope you are enjoying the weekend!

First off, we celebrated Noah’s birthday last week.  Happy Birthday Noah and thanks for the delicious birthday treats!

Here is what you need to know for the week ahead:

 

Field Trip Information:  Both Lindbergh Kindergarten classes will be going on our fourth and final field trip to U of M- Dearborn for a pond study.  The field trip will be on Wednesday, May 31.  There is no cost for this field trip.  (Thanks to Lindbergh’s PTA for paying for our bus.)  Permission slips were sent home last Monday so if it didn’t make it home, please let me know.  If you are interested in being a chaperone, please indicate so on the bottom of the permission slip.  There is no limit to the number of chaperones who can attend. 🙂

Poem of the Week:  Tally Marks—Some students pick up the concept of tally marks really easily and others are having difficulty.  Please have your child practice making tally marks at home as we will be practicing during math workshop this week.

Last Week’s spelling words:   “ot” family:   hot   pot   dot   rot + mystery word  +  2 individual words.  Your child will be tested on these words on Tuesday.

New  Spelling Words:  “ed”  words:  bed  fed  led  red    There will be no individual words this week due to the short week.   Your child will be tested on these words next Tuesday.

Book bags:  Since I am administering the DRA (Developmental Reading Assessment) individually to each child, I will not be seeing them in the reading groups.  Therefore, your child will not be getting new books this week.

  • Monday:  We will go to gym and art today.  Please return library book, spelling notebook, poetry journal and Nightly Literacy Homework.  Donuts for Dads invitations will be sent home today.
  • Tuesday:   Please make sure to return your library book.  Spelling Test today.  We will have music today.   We will be planting flowers in the front of Lindbergh school at 2:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday: Mad Science!
  • Thursday:  Popcorn Thursday!  Bring your 25 cents- limit 4 bags please.  We will have music today.
  • Friday: No School today!

Save the Date:

Donuts for Dads will be on Friday, June 9th at 9:00 a.m.  Invitations will be sent home on Monday.  We really need every child have someone to come for them.

Dear Families,

I can’t believe that May is almost half over!  Time sure flies when you are lucky enough to be the teacher in Room 114!

Here is what you need to know for this week:

  • Wednesday: Late Start!  School starts at 9:35  a.m.
  • Thursday:  We will have music today.  Last day of Running Club!
  • Friday: Popcorn Friday!  We will have computer lab and gym today.

Muffins for Moms

Dear Families,

We sure enjoying having our moms come for Muffins for Moms this morning.

The kindergartners did a great job singing  “Oh Mama!” which they learned in music with Mrs. Baloga.

  • Monday:  We will go to gym and art today.  Please return library book, spelling notebook, poetry journal and Nightly Literacy Homework.  We still need several Muffins for Moms RSVP slips turned in.
  • Tuesday:   Spelling Test today.  We will have music today.  Running Club!
  • Wednesday: We will have a guest teacher today so I can go on my son’s field trip.
  • Thursday:  We will have music today.  Running Club!
  • Friday: Muffins for Moms at 9:00 a.m.  We will have computer lab and gym today.

Special Request for Muffins for Moms:  Since we will be starting promptly, please arrive to our classroom at 9:00 a.m.  We do not want any students to become anxious or worried if they don’t see their mom when the door opens at 9:00 a.m.  Thank you so much!

Daily 5:  This week,  your child will not be getting new books in their book bag.  During this time, we will be working on our publishing center books, animal reports as well as some surprises for Muffins for Moms. However, feel free to practice books on Raz-kids.

Donations Needed for Muffins for Moms

Dear Families,

I can’t believe that in one week it will be Muffins for Moms!  As we are busy getting ready in class for our special day, there are a few things we need.  If you are able to send in the following items, please leave a comment below or email me.
