Week of October 7, 2013

Dear Families,

Ms. Wright is not always right!  🙂 On Wednesday, October 9th, our class will be going to the Plymouth Apple Orchard.  Please make sure that your child is here at 8:35 a.m. not 9:35 a.m. like it states on Ms. Wright’s Kindergarten calendar that was sent home last week.  We will arrive back to Lindbergh by 2:30 p.m. but your child will be dismissed at 3:35 p.m.  Sorry for the confusion!  If you are chaperoning for this field trip, tomorrow you will find a chaperone packet in your child’s red folder.  Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the field trip.  It looks like it may be cooler, so make sure they have a jacket, comfortable walking shoes and a bag lunch.  All lunches need to be stapled or taped shut with your child’s name clearly marked on the outside.  They will need to bring a drink, but please no glass.

Thanks to our “future basket money” I recently bought new book bags for our class.  Each day your child will take home his/her bag and practice reading with you.  There are also a ring of cards with the words of the week that we have or are currently studying in class.  Please take a few minutes to practice those as well.  Please make sure your child returns the bag to school each day.  Your child will receive new books 2-3 times a week.

Science Experiment#5 was sent home today in your child’s red folder.  Please make sure that everything is returned by Thursday, October 17th. If your child has not returned their test tubes from last week, they need to do so tomorrow.

A big thank you  goes out to the Mad Science volunteers from last week!  Thanks to Max’s mom, Reina’s mom, and Billy’s grandma for helping us with our “Rainbow Test Tubes!”  Take a look at our scientists in action:

If you are interested in helping our scientists for this week’s Mad Science Experiment, please let me know.  The excitement will start at 12:50 p.m. on Thursday, October 10th.

Letter Books were sent home today.  We are studying the letters T and t this week.  Make sure the letter books are returned by Friday.

Tomorrow your child’s Everyday Math Homelink book will be sent home along with an explanation of how we are going to use them for homework.  I have taped your child’s username and password to the cover the book.  You will need this information for assessing Everyday Math on-line.

Until next time…

Ms Wright
