Dear Families,
I hope you enjoyed the warmer weekend! Here is what you need to know for this week in our kindergarten classroom:
Weekly Homework: Your child will receive two activity sheets in their red folder today and will need have both completed by Friday. This week’s focus will be on the “long i” sound.
Words of the Week: but here
Poem of the Week: Good Morning to you!
Assessments: I am still working on our assessments this week. I am finishing up the social studies and math assessments. Since these assessments are administered individually, they can be quite time consuming. Today I collected all the books from your child’s book bag. I will be switching the students’ reading groups to match their new reading goals. I will start meeting new groups on Thursday.
Science: These kindergarten weather watchers are thoroughly enjoying our Weather unit. Whenever possible talk about the weather with your child daily.
Social Studies: The kindergarten Timeline project is due on Thursday, January 25th. This project was modeled at school so your child should be able to show you what needs to be done. We are proud to hang up these timelines in our hallway!
Field Trip Update: Field trip permission slips were due today. Thanks to everyone who volunteered to be a chaperone. There will be plenty of room on the bus for chaperones too!
Tuesday: Return Nightly Literacy Homework! Return your library book. We will have music with Mrs. Baloga.
Wednesday: Field trip today. We will be boarding the bus at 9:00 a.m. Please make sure that your child brings a bag lunch with a drink, gym shoes and clothes appropriate for rock climbing. We will return to Lindbergh by 2:30 a.m. We will be taking every chaperone who signed up to help on this trip. Please arrive by 9:00 a.m. and make sure to sign in at the office before coming to our classroom. We will try to go to the Media Center to check out a library book upon our arrival from the field trip.
Thursday: We will have music today.
Friday: “Long i” homework is due! Dismissal time is at 11:45 a.m.
Enjoy the week!
Ms. Wright
