Week of November 23, 2015

Dear Families,

I hope you are enjoying this Winter Wonderland this weekend!  I know my two sons are having a blast in the snow.

Here is what you need to know for this week:

Letters of the Week:  P p

Words of the Week:  I  like

  • Monday:  Return library books!  Wear gym shoes!  Letter books will be sent home today.  We are studying the letters P and p.  Letter books won’t be due until Friday, December 4th.
  • Tuesday:  Please return field trip money, permission slips and waivers.  We need at least 5 enthusiastic chaperones to come with us.  So far we have 2 chaperones signed up!  I know is sounds daunting to take 41 kindergartners to Krogers but it really is a great field trip and I promise that you will still be welcomed back to shop at Krogers after the trip!  🙂  I promise!
  • Wednesday, Thursday & Friday:  No School- Enjoy family time!

W.I.G  (Wildly Important Goal)  After conferences, I had many enthusiastic students telling me how they were practicing for our MATH W.I.G., which is to count up to 100.  If your child feels prepared, have them tell me and I will listen to them count during snack time.

Habit 7:  Sharpen the Saw-  no, we are not having students use sharp blades in class.  Sharpening the saw means to have balance in your life.  Everyone needs to take time to do things that are good for your mind, body and soul.  That includes you too parents!  Have the students learn from your example.  I try to show the students that I live the Habits too.

Here are just some things we will be working in class over the next few weeks:

Reading:  We are working on retelling stories as well as practicing sounds.

Math:  We are practicing answering “how many?”

Social Studies:  We are studying needs and wants/ goods and services.

Science:  We are studying pushes and pulls.

Writing:  We will begin opinion writing.

Leader in Me:  We will live habits 1-7.

Thanks to everyone for sending me pictures of pushes and pulls.  Our bulletin board is looking great!  You can email me pictures at wrightt1@dearbornschools.org.

Ms. Wright

  1. Hi Mrs. Wright,

I just sent you two pictures of Benjamin pushing and pulling his chair at home. I am not great at sending them on my cell phone via email. Could you let me know if you got it? Thank you!
