Week of March 16, 2015

Dear Families,

Wow!  What a weekend!  Hope you had a chance to enjoy it with your family.

Here is what you need to know for this week in our kindergarten class:

  • Letter Books: we are studying the letters X and x.  Since there is a difficult letter to find at the beginning of words, your child may find pictures of words that have the letter x somewhere in the word.  (Example:  six,  fox, box )  We brainstormed many words that have the letter x in them this morning.  Good luck!
  • Spelling words:  the “ag” words    bag   rag   tag   hag   Your child will also be given a cold word on next week’s test.  A cold word is a word that fits the pattern but isn’t on their spelling list.  Example:  lag  sag  gag  zag   Please make sure that your child is practicing their words at home and completing the spelling activities.
  • Make sure your child returns their library book either by Tuesday.
  • On Wednesday, Mrs. Miller will be our guest teacher.  I will be out for Science Training.
  • On Thursday, we will have Mad Science at 1:00 p.m.  Please join us if you can.
  • On Friday, letter books are due.

This week I will be assessing the students individually in reading and math for report cards.  Unfortunately, I will not be meeting with my reading groups this week.  If your child needs additional reading materials, please go to razkids.com.

Have a great week!

M. Wright
