Dear Families,
Happy Monday! We sure are having a great day in kindergarten today! We were introduced to the next component of Daily 5, our literacy framework. This component is called Read to Someone. Take a look of our class engaged during Read to Someone:
Here is our Read to Someone I-Chart:
Ask your child about Read to Someone tonight!
Here is what you need to know about our week in kindergarten!
- Letter of the Week: B b Letter books will be sent home today. Due on Thursday!
- On Thursday, October 2, we will need some parent volunteers to help us with our Five Senses Stations. We will start at 1:00 p.m. and will take about an hour. If you are able to volunteer, please leave a comment below. Please no siblings!
- Playdough Maker needed: We are looking for someone to help us make playdough for our classroom each month. I have a great recipe that takes only about 10 minutes. Let us know if your interested by commenting below.
- Thanks for the awesome lab coats! We are still looking for a few more white, oxford shirts so that each kindergartner will have their own lab coat.
- We will have Late Start on Wednesday, October 1. The first bell will ring at 9:35 a.m. So sleep in! 🙂
- There will be no school on Friday, October 3, or Monday, October 6 so enjoy the long weekend!
Important Future Dates:
On Thursday, October 23, 2014 our kindergarten class will be going on our first field trip to the Plymouth Apple Orchard. We will need Chaperones for this trip. If you would like to be a chaperone, please make sure that your background check is completed in the office. You will need to bring in a valid’s driver’s license to Mrs. Cathy in the office. It takes about two weeks to process. So don’t delay, do it today! Field trip permission slips and information will be sent home next week.
MORNING WORK:
Each morning, the students come in and start practicing his/her writing on their whiteboards. They may practicing their name, letters, numbers or words. Here are some examples of our morning work:
