Wash your hands!

Germs are making their way through Kindergarten. Please be sure to review with your child how important it is to wash their hands using soap and warm water! We teach them to sing the ABCs while they are washing so we know that they are washing more thoroughly.

Cases of pink eye have been in a few of our classrooms recently. If your child’s eye is red or crusty, please make a doctor appointment! It’s important to treat it early as it is very contagious.

Spelling

Are you looking for ideas to help your child practice their spelling words?

Check our our list below!

ABC order – write your spelling words in alphabetical order

Repetition – write your word 3 times each

Sentences – write a sentence for each spelling word

Word Art – draw a picture and write your words in the picture

Creative Letters – write your words by cutting out letters in an old newspaper or magazine and glue them on paper

Good Clean Words – write your words in shaving cream on a counter or some other surface that can be cleaned safely

Flashwriting – in a darkened room, use a flashlight to draw letters in the air

Timer – Get a timer. Set it for 3 minutes. See how many times you can write your words before the timer goes off.

Chalk – write your words outside using sidewalk chalk

Gym spelling – do jumping jacks and say a letter to spell your word each time you clap your hands

Finger tracing – use your finger to spell out each of your words one letter at a time on your mom or dad’s back. Then it’s YOUR turn to feel and spell. Try to guess the word.

Have fun practicing! Let your teacher know which idea you liked best!
