April showers bring May…

Flowers! We will be planting flowers outside of our classroom windows. We are asking for parents to either donate $2 or a flat of flowers we can plant. If you choose to donate flowers, please send in petunias or impatients. Amy color is fine with us! We are also asking for donations of humus soil (or any compost soil). These can be found at Home Depot, Meijer, Lowes, or Walmart. If you are able to help us prepare the soil, please let us know. We are looking for 1-2 volunteers to help us on May 13. Please let your child’s teacher know if you are able to come up with a rake and turn the soil for us. Kindergarten is responsible for the areas outside of Mrs. Hodgkinson’s classroom, Mrs. Shami’s classroom, and the small section across the sidewalk in front of the end of Ms. Bazzy’s classroom. We need soil donations by May 12 and flowers by May 16.

Thank you for your help! If you would rather donate $2, please send that by Wednesday, May 11.

Snack

Please be sure to send a healthy snack everyday with your child. Our snack grant has ended, the school will no longer be providing snack. Unhealthy snacks will not be allowed in school. Please see your child’s teacher if you would like some healthy snack ideas!

Have a great weekend!

Field Trip

Our field trip to the Detroit Zoo on May 18 is quickly approaching and we are all looking forward to getting some Vitamin Z! ๐Ÿ™‚ Permission slips and money are due by the end of the day today! To receive our discounted rate, we are paying the zoo tomorrow morning! Please make sure you have a background check on file!

Recess and Sunshine

Ahh, the sunshine feels so nice! We will be playing outside at least once every day now that the weather is cooperating. The children will also be going outside for gym starting in the next couple of weeks. The sun is H-O-T! With the hot sun comes the risk of sunburn. Please apply a layer of sunscreen to your child before school every day. Pay special attention to their nose and ears, they usually burn first!

Please also remember to dress your child in shoes appropriate for play. Open toe sandals and dress shoes are not appropriate for our playground. Gym shoes everyday are best!
