Field Trip Reminder!

Dear Families,

This is a reminder that our Kindergarten field trip to Plymouth Orchards and Cider Mill is on Monday, October 12th. For the field trip, please remember the following things:

  • All students who are going need to be at school at 8:30.
  • If your child is not going please keep them at home.
  • All chaperons need to be at school (wait by the office) at 9:00.
  • All children should wear their light blue kindergarten t-shirt.
  • Your child needs to pack a lunch (sandwich, drink…) in a paper bag. When they are finished they will throw it away.
  • Dress for the weather! Most of the time apple orchards are muddy, however it looks like it should be very hot and sunny for us!

Classroom Homeroom Parent

Each Kindergarten classroom is in need of a Homeroom Parent. You will be very helpful to our classroom! You will help us share news, make requests, organize parties, work with the PTA…

Please let your child’s teacher know if you are interested! 🙂

Thanks!

Invented Spelling

Der parints,

Az ur child brings home riting for the ferst tim, do not be serprizd at the speling. The inglish langwij is confuzing for studints. Prematur insistint that studints uz standard or “correct” speling inhibits their dezir and ability to rit. We will uz “temporary speling” in r wrk. It iz a grat assessment to se wut yor child nos.

Az parints u can hlp ur child bi prazing awl thair riting. Let ur child red their ritinf to u. Displa their riting around ur hom. No that as ur child becomz familyer with riting, he or she wil mak the tranzishun to standar speling.

                                         Thank u,

                                         Kitrgrdn Techrs

Dear parents,

As your child brings home writing for the first time, do not be surprised at the spelling. The English Language is confusing for students. Premature insistences that students use standard or “correct” spelling inhibit their desire and ability to write. We will use “temporary spelling” in our work. It is a great assessment to see what your child knows.

As parents you can help your child by praising all their writing. Let your child read their writing to you. Display their writing around your home. Know that as your child becomes familiar with writing, he or she will make the truncation to standard spelling.

Thank you,

Kindergarten Teachers
