7th Grade Agenda: (1) Fill in planners, (2) Previewed book selections for next lit book, (3) Make DLR corrections from week 15, (4) Continue with watching movie and taking notes for comparison/contrast, (5) If note taking is complete, meet in groups to discuss

8th Grade Agenda – 1st Hour:  Explore testing: Completed English and Math portions of the test.  Tomorrow’s testing will include Reading and Science.  Each subject area is a timed test, with 30 minutes allotted for each.

8th Grade Agenda: (1) Fill in planners, (2) Discuss the importance of Explore testing which will occur March 25-27, (3) Review and collect week 15 DLR, (4) Continue with movie and notes

Homework: (1) Read for 30 minutes

Today’s classes were shortened to allow time for all students to attend the Stout Spelling Bee at the end of the school day.

ATTN: 8th Graders!  You will be taking the Explore test in first hour for three days next week.  You can preview test questions and learn more about the test itself by visiting https://www.actstudent.org .  This test will be used to predict future academic success in high school and will be used, in conjunction with grades, for admission into certain high school classes and programs.  Your full attention and best effort are expected during all three test sessions.

7th Grade Agenda: (1) Fill in planners, (2) Discuss painting that appears in text, (3) Assign characters and begin reading teleplay “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street”, (4) Review Wednesday section of DLR, (5) Shop/browse at book fair

8th Grade Agenda: (1) Fill in planners, (2) Watch and discuss last Friday’s Flocabulary as springboard for research discussion, (3) With partner, discuss topics and ideas that are of interest, (4) Create class list of suggested topics for short research projects, (5) Review Wednesday section of DLR, (6) Shop/browse at book fair

Homework: (1) Read for 30 minutes, (2) Wed DLR

Conferences are tonight from 3:30-6:30.  You will have the opportunity to pick up your student’s report card and meet with any of his/her teachers in the cafeteria.  This is the only night for spring conferences.

If you are unable to attend conferences but have questions or concerns about your student’s ELA progress, please email me or leave me a voice mail message and I will get back with you.  Any report cards not picked up tonight will be given to students in class either Thursday or Friday of this week.

Agenda: (1) Fill in planners, (2) Define and write examples for the 4 types of sentences, (3) Review class lit book and any definitions, (4) Meet in groups to discuss aspects of the current reading assignment, (5) Took comprehension quiz, (6) Reviewed Tuesday portion of DLR

Homework: (1) Read for 30 minutes, (2) Complete Tuesday portion of DLR

Tomorrow is the FINAL DAY to submit permission slips to view the movie version of the lit book our class has just completed reading.  If you do not have a permission slip, parents/guardians can write out their permission on a piece of paper, sign it and return it to class.

We will be going to the Book Fair tomorrow.  If you would like your student to make a purchase, please send him/her with money tomorrow.  Remember to add the 6% sales tax to book price.
