NWEA Reading Test

Next week, students will take the NWEA Reading Test during their language arts classes.  1st and 4th hour ELA classes will test on Tuesday, September 30th.  2nd & 5th hour ELA classes will test on Wednesday, October 1st.  3rd and 6th hour ELA classes will test on Thursday, October 2nd.

Students took this test twice last year.  Families received test score information with the March report card.

Since this is an assessment of a student’s reading ability and knowledge up to this point, there really is nothing to study inpreparation for the test.  Testing on a computer and the format of the questions, however, can pose a challenge for some students.  If you’d like your student to practice prior to the actual test, s/he can complete sample items online at

Both are set up with games/activities at levels that correspond to students’ RIT scores from the NWEA MAP test.  If a student scores a 215, they should practice skills from the 211-220 section, etc.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.  You will receive your student’s test results with report cards in either November or January.
