Combined Literature Circles

AGENDA:

  1. Students reading  THE DEVIL’S ARITHMETIC, MONSTER, and THE WESTING GAME met with me. [The other novels met with Ms. Wooton.]
  2. Introduced bookmark with quiz dates and chapters to be covered.
  3. Introduced 4-square reading response sheet
  4. Students continued reading and working on 4-square sheet either independently or with a group
  5. Dismissal countdown

IXL & Literature Group Assignments

AGENDA:

  1. Worked on 4th IXL skill: pronoun & antecedents [record sheets available on iLearn]
  2. Switched classes with Ms. Wooton’s class depending upon novel for Literature Group
  3. Received own copy of novel to borrow [lost copies must be replaced or the $5 fine paid at the end of the year]
  4. Received a copy of the reading schedule the students created on Friday
  5. Had time to begin reading
  6. Dismissal countdown

Introduction to Literature Circles

AGENDA:

  1. Read off names of students within each group
  2. Combined our class with students from Ms. Wooton’s class
  3. Worked in groups to determine a reading schedule based upon the length of the book and the needs of the group members
  4. Wrote out reading schedule for next 4 weeks [Students will receive a copy of the schedule and a copy of their novel on Monday.]
