ELA Summer Learning Requirements

All middle school students in the Dearborn Public Schools will be required to complete skills practice via MobyMax and to read 3 books with a book presentation prepared for one of those books.

Mrs. Morrison, middle school literacy coordinator for the district, presented to all Stout ELA classrooms today. Click here for a link to her presentation which outlines the requirements, how to log in to MobyMax so that the minutes will be recorded properly, and the scoring rubrics.

When trying to select a Good Fit Book, students should begin with their Lexile level and selecting a title that is at or just above the level. If a student is having difficulty selecting a book, sites such as LEXILE.COM and WHATSHOULDIREADNEXT.COM are great resources to use.

In the fall, two different summative scores will be assigned for (1) the time on MobyMax and (2) completing the book cards and collage for the three books read.

As always, if there are questions as you begin working on the Summer Learning, please email me. I’ll do my best to respond promptly.
