Margaret King Ahmed – Parent Involvement Educator will be hosting effective Parent talk classes here at River Oaks School.

What is Parent Talk? You will learn communication skills that empower, encourage self-responsible behaviors, self-motivation and character development. Learn practical skills to positively effect the social and emotional development of your children and family. You will increase achievement and decrease discipline issues with effective Parent Talk.

Classes will be held on Tuesday’s at 1:30 – 3:30.

February 6,13,27. March 6th

Graduation will be March 13, 2018

Holiday Shop

Students will be able to shop at this year’s Holiday Shop on Wednesday, Dec, 13 at 10:00 am. All items are $2.00 each. Please send cash only.

Holiday Concert

3- 5 grades will perform in the Holiday Concert on Friday, December 22 at 2:00. This performance is for parents to attend.

Holiday Shop: Students will have be able to shop on Thurs, December 13 at 10:00 am. All items are $2.00 each. Please send the money on Thursday, cash only please.

Study Island: Students have received a login and passwrod for Study Island. I have taped this in the front of their planners. Students may access and complete StudyIsland assignments at home. Proficiency is the goal and that is at least 80% correct on the questions. Students read and complete the lessons first and then answer the practice questions.

Community Forum – High School Boundary Proposal

River Oaks School – Wednesday December 6, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.

As part of the overall plan to review the enrollment increases at Dearborn’s three comprehensive high schools the District will hold a meeting to provide information and solicit feedback regarding proposed high school boundary changes. The forum is open to all member of the River Oaks community. Parents, students, staff and all community members are invited to attend.

The Board of Education has not made any decision regarding these plans. The District is in the informational gathering stage of the process. The board will make a decision once they have collected feedback from the community, looked at all options, and then will vote as a Board on a final plan.

Please join us on Friday, December 1 in a school wide food drive.

Just bring 2 cans of soup or vegetables or a box of cereal, jar of peanut butter, cake mix or a package of cookies and you may wear your pajamas to school on Friday, December 1! 

The Unit 3 Math test will be on Monday, December 4. Students will complete and correct the review in class on Friday. They will bring home the corrected practice so they can continue to practice before the test.

Spelling test will be on Friday

Science test will also be on Friday.
